From Frothers Unite UK forum:-
"Dear all,

Alex has posted a short update at the LAF homepage.

It looks like the forum will be down for at least a week or two.
Round 3 of the LPL will commence on the first available Monday after the forum is back up…

Many people have already sent me their round 3 entries (well done chaps!)
As the site is currently down, it would seem a bit silly to still insist that they all have to be in by tomorrow morning. But please get them to me as soon as possible. You never know when the site might be back. Teutonic efficiency is a thing to be reckoned with!

Meanwhile, here is a message from SvennnDHnut:

"The latest I have heard is that Alex is going to have to buy a server to either rescue or restart the forum. He has said he will do this, but I feel it is a lot to ask and we should do what we can to help. The obvious way to do this is with the finances. Therefore I wish to start a chain message that can be forwarded around everyone we can get hold of and see what we can raise. I have used all the addresses I can find that are LAF related and would be most appreciative if you could forward this message to anyone else you know of who is a LAF member.

If you are like me, even after only 3 days without it, you will be missing a really big part of your hobby life.
So let's do something about it.

If you feel able to support this worthy cause, please send any amount you would like to contribute – however small – by PayPal to alex(at)bews.info

Thanks all
Svennn"

I should add, by the way, that it is categorically NOT required that you make a donation in order to continue taking part in the Lead Painters League. I'm sure all contributions toward the high cost of a new server will be welcome. But I am certain Alex would not want anyone to feel under any pressure whatsoever. So if you can afford to give something to help get LAF running again, that would be great. But there's no obligation Smile

Cheers

Richard"

I just contributed towards the new server. Lead Adventure Forum is great fun, worth supporting.

Might nice of the hosting company to allow a info text on the index page. I think they could have done that in the first place even if they did not get hold of Alex (says I who is nurturing some other customer service beefs atm).

The latest from the Prof:

Dear friends,

good news! I've got permissions to access the database and made a backup of the LAF. Actually three back-ups to be really sure :). Now I'm waiting for the set-up of the new server. As soon as the server will be available, I'll import the database and relaunch LAF.

Special thanks to all of you who contributed to the costs of the new server. I've received a LOT of money…In the meantime enough for set-up and next 5 months!! Thanks friends, I'm very touched and I promise that all the contributions will be put to the payment of the rent of the server.

Yours.
Prof

That's great news. If there's an upside to this whole gymkhana, it may be that it has brought the LAF community together and made us realize how much the group means to us. I know I personally hadn't appreciated how much the forum meant to me until it was gone. Way to stick together, LAFers, and thanks for the hard work to keep it going, Prof!
