What would you say is the best material used for a base of a flight stand? Steel or magnets? The bog I have is a magnetic base. Thanks for the help. |

Well that would depend on the size of the aircraft and the height of the extension from the base. I've seen a lot of folks use just plane old plastic for smaller WWII stuff. mjc |

I'm just getting into this now. I have clear acrylic flight stands with bases in the same material. I've just glued some rare earth magnets to the bottom of my planes and will put a blob of steel on the top of the flight stands. My planes are 1/600th. |

I put a rare earth magnet on aircraft and one on the stand. Just make sure you get the poles the right way round. |

For that reason I'm thinking it will be less trouble to put metal on the top of the flight stand and one magnet on the aircraft. Otherwise you may end up with incompatible pairs of stands and aircraft. |
