Nice little report, really highlighted the huge variety of variants that are possible for an ancients wargame. |

Not to be outdone, here are a couple of shots from the Scottish wing's Callinicum played as well. markminimalta.blogspot.com MK was just too far for us to get to, so we did it up here outselves. |

The rules are done, I believe – we are part of the playtesters. I think its lists mostly being looked at now. There is a yahoo group who will give you accurate answers, I wouldn't want to predjudice anything. |

Keraunos; are they mostly GB figures, and roughly how many were there? How large was the table, please? Simon ps Hi Mike! |
| Keraunos | 30 Apr 2009 4:36 a.m. PST |
um, the table was about 12 feet by 6, maybe a bit more. the points were over 2000 each – and not balanced. figs – the new figs were GB, but there is stuff inther going back years. If you are in the SoA, there will be proper details in our battle report (which I am not writing) |

Both re-enactments look most atmospheric – certainly very well done. Look forward to the March Slingshot for the account. I note that on the DBMM list PB refers to the article as one of the best he has seen. He notes that article argues the battle was one where the Byzantine and Arab troops were caught on the march and defeated in detail by the Sasanids. It was only the 'degenerate' (to quote previous WRG books) legionaries (and some dismounted cavalry) that held on and saved the day from complete disaster. |

Hi Keraunos, yes I'm SoA, I expect I'll see it in Slingshot (probably in 2010, or so!). A great looking game. Simon |

Hi folks, I'm hoping to start a blog soon, beginning with the Callinicum game in Glasgow. The figures were all mine, and I'll put up some photos of the more modern ones. There were about 850 figures in total. Many have been collected over a long period after being painted by others, so I can't claim the credit for all of it! Cheers for the comments so far

Hi Caliban, That's a nice big bunch of figures, especially considering that most of them are cavalry! Will look forward to seeing photos. Simon |

Legion 1950 asked when Tactica 2 will be out. This from Arty just now: "I'd wait til later this year when the rules are produced. They are conceptually done and I'm just adding edits, diagrams and such. Long Life and Victory! Arty" |

Hi everyone, I finally got round to organising a blog. I've just put up the first post, which is a reasonably full report with pictures of Callinicum: caliban-somewhen.blogspot.com WARNING: I originally included this as a clickable link, but when I tried it the blog opened up as a whole series of pages. There must be a bug somewhere between TMP and blogspot.com; I'll inform both. The way around it seems to be just to access the blog via your own or by typing in the URL. I do have a much fuller written report including some details on Tactica II, but I agree with Keraunos that we shouldn't prejudice the release of the rules. One final comment: I adopted the same blog layout as "Albino Squirrel" because various folks said they like it on another TMP thread on this board. Cheers to all |

Hi all, worries about the link are over. Bill emailed me to say that he has had no problems, and I've just tried it again myself. Whatever the problem was, it seems to have vanished, which is good

"Look forward to the March Slingshot for the account." March is the one out now. May's going to go to the printers, hopefully, in about a week's time. I've had one report for Slingshot thus far (Armati); last year they all came in in time for the July issue, and a couple more trickled in later. But I'd look for the stuff in the July issue, assuming I get the material. Note pictures of the day are now up here: link
our Scottish friends are sending me some pictures to add for an additional gallery, hopefully. Mark |
