Just thought I would let folks know that, despite a pretty slow month at The House of War, I am off from work this week, which means updates! Up today
some notes on my new 10mm Napoleonic rules, and some 25mm Napoleonic Russian artillery! Up in the next few days
some more Lord of the Rings, and some 15mm ACW figures. Come on by and take a look
and, if you want a great free Tolkien computer game, I have that too! link |

Just thought I would let everyone know I put up a long post of the first turns of a 10mm Napoleonic playtest game
tons and tons and tons of eye candy, and an interesting chance to see how the rules play! Oh, who am I kidding? Lots and lots of eye candy! :) Stop on by and give it a look, or check out the 25mm Napoleonic Russians! Up tomorrow
some Lord of the Rings, and more 10mm Napoleonic game shots! |

Very nice! But I will resist the temptation to start painting 10mm minis. Luciano |

If I was just starting today, I would use 10mm for my Napoleonics. They look great. I just have too much invested in my H&R/Adler/Baccus armies now to make the change. Dale |

Where is the Tolkien game? Didn't see it. |
| Lord Ashram | 28 Apr 2009 7:31 p.m. PST |
Hey! The forum for Tolkien game (which includes the download link) is here: link Game takes about 2 minutes to install and download. We recently made up the latest edition which clears up a tiny Vista bug; let me put that up before you download it, should have it up by midnight EST on Tuesday night. It is a right solid little game
you can be a Troll warrior crushing your way through the Shire, killing gardeners and Shirrifs and adventurous Tooks and eating mushrooms along the way, or you can be an Elven Warrior-Mage, wandering through the Plains of Gorgoroth, slaying Mordor Orcs and Mountain Orcs, or you can be a Hobbit thief, carefully picking your way through Bree and across the Misty Mountains, through Lorien and into the deep, dark Forest of Mirkwood
stop to say to Beorn on the way! Of course, while Trolls can get big and strong, and Elves learned in magic, and Dwarves broad and capable with their axes, only Men have unlimited power in the world of Middle Earth! Seriously tho, it is a fun little single player game that lets you play as good or evil and treasure hunt through all of Middle Earth. We'll have the 3rd version out in the near future:) Oh, and at The House of War I've put up the next three or four turns of my small 10mm Napoleonic rules test
eye candy galore! Feel free to come by and check them out
my favorite is of the French storming down the hill into Colonel Sharpe's brigade! |

Just so the AMERICAN CIVIL WAR folks know
Some insane eye candy available at The House of War, courtesy of the owner of the Echoes of Glory blog, Muzik212. Seriously
if they were mine I wouldn't make such a big deal out of them, but there are some very nice minis to see!:) link |

When you mount guns on your limber stands and have equivalency with your gun stands, there's someone who pays attention to detail. |
| Lord Ashram | 29 Apr 2009 9:57 p.m. PST |
Yeah, he is very precise. Every cavalry man has a mounted version and a dismounted version with a horse being held, every battalion has officers to run it
heck, one of his guns is actually bored out, including the touch-hole, and the wheels actually spin, and the water bucket is suspended beneath it. Here is a link to that piece from his blog: link It is a very nice collection, and he is very precise:D You should see the AWI collection
he actually painted casualties for each unit! Unfortunately he is a spotty-at-best blogger, but once he gets his room together I think he'll start putting up photos of it all:) Until then, whenever I am there I'll snap a few! |

Spotty at best? Its quality not quantity my friend! :) But yes, come June I expect to be putting up a series of posts, story telling via pictures that shows a battle unfolding on the 10x5 table. Thanks for the promotional plug Ashram! Sean |

Lord Ashram – your Nappy rules, are they just for your own pleasure, sharing on the net or commercial publishing ? |
| Lord Ashram | 30 Apr 2009 11:40 a.m. PST |
Hm really just for my pleasure, but once I have them in some sort of playable form I'd be happy to pass them along!:) I can't promise they will be some amazing competitive set of rules, as I really just use them when playing against myself for fun, but so far they are entertaining:) Let me get them to a working point (I am only just working on the infantry at the moment, and even that is WIP) but I'll be happy to share them later:) |

Lord Ashram, I also forgot to give you a nod for painting/including the 8th New Jersey Volunteers as part of your ACW collection. And I agree with a previous poster that your 10mm terrain and figure set up is exceptional. |
| Lord Ashram | 02 May 2009 8:13 a.m. PST |
Thanks so much for the compliments! Just so folks know, part 3 of the Napoleonic playtest is up, with more photos. I'll put up the last part probably tonight, and then I'll be doing a larger game with fewer photos. |
| Lord Ashram | 04 May 2009 4:11 a.m. PST |
Hey all, Just wanted to let everyone know that my second 10mm Napoleonic playtest is up (well, at least the first few turns of it are
) and this is a biggie
three divisions per side rather than one, with lots of eye candy!:) I've cut back on the writing and have included mainly photos with captions for now; please let me know if this style is maybe better than the more complete versions of battle reports I've done in the past! Please stop by and take a look! link |
| Lord Ashram | 04 May 2009 8:05 p.m. PST |
Howdy all, Whelp, another day, another big dose of eye candy! I played a few more rounds of my latest game, and they saw artillery opening fire on both sides of the fields, cavalry foolishly charging squares, and a SEA of Frenchmen preparing an assault! Come on by and take a look! Also, two notes: First; the way I am doing it now is showing the PHOTO first, and describing it underneath it. Is this good for most people, or would people rather I WRITE first, and follow it with the photo? Also, please, if anyone has any requests for closeups, please let me know! It would be fun to take photos "on demand!":) Thanks for coming by! |
| Bottom Dollar | 04 May 2009 9:14 p.m. PST |
Exeptional work, Lord Ashram. I voted for the descriptions below the photos. |
| Lord Ashram | 09 May 2009 11:03 a.m. PST |
Howdy all! First off, thanks for the responses so far about the AARs and photo placements, although any more input would be welcome. Second, I have put up a few new posts, including some 15mm ACW Federal troops and some 25mm Napoleonic Russians
and later today and on Sunday I'll post up a Flag Dude product review, some more Lord of the Rings figures, and some more reports from my 10mm Napoleonic game coming up, as the two French columns have CRUSHED into the British lines and units are starting to rout
exciting stuff! So please come by and take a look! link |
| Lord Ashram | 09 May 2009 9:27 p.m. PST |
Okay
Now for something TOTALLY new. The House of War is happy to present its first VIDEO! Please come by and take a look, as The Ninja and The Rapper review Flag Dude flags and Army Painter dip, discuss tips for taking ideal photos, and have a panel discussion on rule creation! Please do come by and take a look, and let me know if this is a worthwhile addition to the House of War! link |

is great Lord Ashram, informative and amusing! |
| Condottiere | 10 May 2009 6:28 a.m. PST |
And I agree with a previous poster that your 10mm terrain and figure set up is exceptional. Glad to see that you are putting Sam Mustafa's 10mm Napoleonics collection to good use!
|
| Lord Ashram | 10 May 2009 7:27 a.m. PST |
Of course! Not only are they beautiful, but the 10mm scale is just perfect
my table is only 4 x 6.5, and I can't get all my 25mms on there for a game that has any sort of strategy
while the 15s fit fine, the 10s are really ideal
it just feels so much more epic, and so much more proper. Plus, as I mentioned
they are beautiful!:) How the guy parts with his miniatures as often as he does I don't know, but I am not complaining!:D Although technically, they are my 10mm collection now:) Muah ha ha ha ha! *rubs hands together evilly* ;) |
| Gunfreak | 10 May 2009 7:36 a.m. PST |
Holycrap they used to be Sam Mustafa's? Thats like having a phaser from star trek only for wargaming nerd and not trekkies |
| Lord Ashram | 10 May 2009 8:17 a.m. PST |
Right?:) I thought the same thing
it isn't often you get miniatures with a pedigree, and being that these were my first purchase of any real size
I think the only other miniatures I actually ever bought before were a few units of Warhammer guys painted by Bryan Shaw, who won a few golden demons, and they were on the cheap, so that was pretty neat too:) Hey, maybe somewhere someone is saying "Hey man, I bought these miniatures from Lord Ashram
pretty cool!" Or maybe not. :) Anyway, here is my first post when I got them
link Anyway
back to the (somewhat silly) movie! Did you enjoy it, Gun? Or not worth the time it took to make (an hour or two)? |
| Gunfreak | 10 May 2009 9:21 a.m. PST |
Oh yeah, defenetly, it was fun but you still got real info out of it, I realy liked the part about your rules |
| donlowry | 10 May 2009 1:19 p.m. PST |
You should have gotten Sam to autograph the bottom of each figure! ;o] |
