Something that might be of interest to gamers who want to play more often but can't always find the opponents or a lot of time.

Be good to have some knowledgeable Napoleonic people playing.

Which version of Total War does it mod?
I have the Samurai and Mongol game but no others.

Brings back memories of the excellent (but flaky) Napoleon 1813 game.

It is based heavily on The Lordz award-winning "Napoleonic Total War," a mod for Medieval Total War.

You can see more of the original game, as well as the sequels, including Napoleonic Total War 2 and American Total War, at The Lordz…

Very much enjoyed the video:) The game is remarkably solid and a lot of fun to play. In fact… I think I'll go give it a go!:D

' Which version of Total War does it mod? '

The original MTW. As my old drinking partner Ashram says, Lordz produced the NTW mod. We used it as a base for 1809 and rebuilt it to allow historical play. MTW/NTW is still the only program I've come across which allows a real 'tabletop wargame' to be played on a PC. The Napoleon 1813 game brings back mixed memories. Really came close to cracking large scale Napoleonic actions with accuracy( if you could get it to run long enough ) :)

I'm still holding a button on histwar, if it ever comes out,
It's been in production since 01, and was supose to come out in 07 then 08, and then early 09, and now mid 09, we never realy know when it comes out.

As for other games that come cluse to tabletop wargaming is Take Command 2nd Manassas, great ACW game.
Lots of mods, so you can ble with almost any OOB from the war,

I've played Total War Empires which is the 18th cent version--very very good although pushes my pc to the limit….The Napoleon 1813 game was great but it also always seemed to crash..Did they ever give any reasons for that??

Take Command is an AMAZING series, and there IS a Napoleonic version… it does not, however, have multiplayer, and does not have empire building, which a lot of people like.

Lord Ashram, what is the name of the Napoleonic Take Command title? I'd really like to see that. Thanks!

Jeff

It is the "Horse and Musket" mod; it actually has both a Napoleonic game AND a Rev War game in it.

Here is a link to the appropriate forum, where they have it for download… it is FANTASTIC.

No one has yet reminded us this is a miniatures board!!

Napoleon 1813 gets a couple of mentions. Do you know this was made open source which means that hobby programmers can work on this. There are already some patches on the Sourceforge site but it has been quite for a while.

If there are any C++ programmers interested to help then you would be welcome.

Thanks, Lord Ashram!

Yeah I got similar from the other side. I asked that PC games be kept separate from this board and got a ration of S*&^ from people. Cant figure it out at all.
