Hello, one thing i do not understand about the league is that a lot of people put in submissions but do not bother to "pre-order" any sprues. And some do but only 5 or 10 when we all know that when you want to paint an army you need minimum 50 figures. why? |

Why? Well, speaking for myself, if my submission goes into production, I am going to receive a bunch of those sprues *free,* *and* get an additional amount of retail value in WF swag, also free, so why would one put in for more than a few with their own proposal? Consider this, Cesmoi. There is a huge delay between the time one posts a submission and the time it actually gets put up for pre-order. I put several submissions in the first day the League was open for business, and it wasn't until months later that they showed up. I didn't receive a notification email when they went up (no complaint, mind you, I know that they are a small operation and were sorely backed up), and I was hardly checking every day to see if they had. When, quite a while later, I found that they were posted, I also found some rude comments from people who were complaining that I did not preorder. Given the delays, how exactly am I supposed to know they are available so that I can preorder as promptly as some people would like??? I suspect this has happened to others as well. |

I submitted a couple about a month ago I think, and I have not seen or heard of anything about them. If any locates them on there please let me know, here is what they were for: 1. Joan of ARC sprue 2. Pygmy sprue Thanks |

A month ago I submitted an idea for killer clowns. A sprue the would mix with the zombie sprues and other modern kits they might produce. I got the email that they received the submission but still nothing posted. |

Howard from WF here! I spent a lot of last week going through the remainder of about 600 requests that had come in since December. I have to either okay them 'as is', send them back to the poster for modification or clarification ("What does this mean?" "What scale are these?" "Why do you think we can get 12 28mm camels on a 4" x 6" sprue?" – that sort of thing) or – in the cases of duplications, simply pass them over. At first I let the poster know where there was a previous near-identical entry, but after about 200 submissions I didn't always do so. No offence intended to those good folk – a man can only send so many emails before going completely nuts! Once I have okayed the submission, I send it on to elite data entry specialist Jane, who puts it up. She then confirms with the original poster that they want X sprues. And sometimes they don't reply. While many of the submissions are clearly excellent ideas, others have me scratching my head. However, the Liberty and Union League is a democracy of customers, so even if I don't think a request is a likely commercial success, I put it forward anyway. If it fails to get interest, that's just how it works! Some submissions are rejected. Mostly this is because of clear IP violations implicit in the submission. And sometimes people have an astounding concept of what can be squeezed into a 4" x 6" sprue. The battleship Yamato in 1/1200 scale, for instance. Four 28mm cars. That sort of thing. Sometimes I do make an executive decision that a submission is just too "I want one sprue – that will cover it!" to ever reach the target of 1000. Amongst these I include: "Napoleon's family, with all his brothers and sisters." "100 Years of Erroll Flynn: a centenary set of five movie poses!" and – sorry WarWizard – five different models of Joan of Arc. Never, ever going to reach 1000. Probably never reach 100. Maybe I hold a grudge against her ever since a visit to orleans many years ago when my American fiancee kept pointing at me and yelling to passers- by, "Il est Anglais! Il a brule Jeanne D'Arc!" But we were young and a bit drunk. |

"Napoleon's family, with all his brothers and sisters." Could one even fit them all into a single sprue? And perhaps Erroll Flynn and Jeanne D'Arc could be combined into a single sprue. Featuring one model of Jeanne, one of Erroll as Robin Hood, one of Erroll as a swashbuckling sea dog, one of Erroll dressed up as Jeanne D'Arc. Plus as a bonus zombie versions of the first two (because zombies sell). Griefbringer |

cestmoi, dont forget. When people order just "5 or 10" that is not 5 or 10 miniatures. Its 5 or 10 sprues of miniatures. Each sprue will hold several miniatures at approximately this rate: 28mm cavalry (2 each sprue) 28mm foot (5 each) 15mm (23 each) 10mm (50 each) So if someone ordered 10 sprues of 28mm infantry that would be 50 miniatures actually ordered. Hope that helps. |

And be fair. Some folks just ask for flaming strange stuff. I don't hold much hope for my undead morris dancers to be made (I wanted a combination of skeletal and zombie to be flexible). Sure, I could probably use a half-dozen sprues (although I only pre-ordered 3, if memory serves). But why should I expect very many others to need (or want) a side of undead morris dancers? Aside from being camp-followers for an undead army, how many other possible uses are there? Oh, yeah. Halloween. And maybe Day of the Dead celebrations. And as a veiled threat to morris dancers everywhere, but what else? |
Lee Brilleaux | 20 Apr 2009 4:13 p.m. PST |
I DID send on the zombie morris dancers, despite my mumblings and grumblings about "things that will never reach 1000, or 100, or even 10." But this is because I am totally unfair and unpredictable. I know Neotacha. I like Neotacha. Therefore, if Neotacha proposes "medieval Persian gas station attendants in party hats" in 42mm, I will okay it. |

I think what Howard is trying to say is that he is open to encouraging displays of affection (e.g. bribes) in order to move nonsensical L&U submissions into the lime light! Bad Howard! Bad! |

Neotacha, I know the name and number of a good counselor, if you need one. |

No, I just need this school year to be over. Soon

Cool, Errol Flyn. Count me in for a sprue! But really all we need is the Kevin Costner version, as that covers most wargaming needs. |

I think what Howard is trying to say is that he is open to encouraging displays of affection (e.g. bribes) in order to move nonsensical L&U submissions into the lime light! So taking the "data entry specialist Jane" out for a dinner is no longer guaranteed to provide an easy way to get to that list? That said, bribing MJS might be cheaper
