Preferably something that I can pick up free on the web, and that supports the use of sea monsters, kind of like Man O' War used to. Thanks |

Uncharted Seas would be what you are after. Alas, not free but cheap. link |

Since you like Man O' War . . . How about Man O' War? :) Here's our Yahoo group: link The FAQ for that group tells you how to find the rules online. Coincidentally, this month is dedicated to the Sea Monsters in the game. |

jpattern2 Thanks, but I don't see a yahoo group at that link, just a google page. Wrong link? |

Hah! Here's the correct link: link I also fixed the link in the earlier post. |

You could also try "Strange Tydes" from Wessex Games |

It's not free (but not an expensive book either), but Flagship Games' Pirates does history, antiquity, and fantasy! |

I'll politely have to disagree with the recommendations for Uncharted Seas, as the fleets arent in balance, and the rules are poorly written and lead to countless discrepancies. The fluff and ships themselves are neat, but skip the game. Use the models to play man o' War. |

Pirates of Yendor? link Or, why not adapt an existing ruleset? Any rules covering the most used tech level should do, usually ancients to rennaissance, and shouldn't really need much more than the addition of some magicks, monsters and designs unique to certain races. May be far more difficult if you really need the full schizo-tech thing that most of them use, but maybe the whole GW-style range of ancient galleys for one race, rennaissance galleys for another, 18thc ships of the line, up to one race having ACW ironclads with way too big rivets, may not really make sense to all. |

Pirates! would be a great suggestion, but not for the scale of ships you are thinking of. |
