I posted some pics of my completed union awhile back and as projects go it took a while to get the finger out and get the rebs done.

Well I did woohoo. Had my first game and what better game to play but Gettysburg.

The table is 8ft x 5.5ft and the pics show the fight for McPherson and Seminary ridges. I hope you enjoy

Cool! I keep thinking about doing 6mm ACW. I always hear about how nice Baccus minis are but those Adler look really good, too.

What rules were you using?

Great video – are the figs mounted for F & F? They certainly have the look of massed bayonets

Stefanpanzer16 Apr 2009 6:54 p.m. PST

Very nice indeed! I'm looking forward to finishing my forces but in 10mm: those 6mm look exceptional.

See what you have done – I am painting 15mm Austrians and now I have to find my Gettysburg movie. Well done.

The rules I use are the guns of Gettysburg but the basing is universal and can be adapted to F&F.

I def wanted the mass feel so took the unusual step of putting 7 figs to a 2 x 2 base, gives me the feeling of regiments in a more dense and realistic look.

For my Nappies, I use 9 figures on a F&F size base for infantry and 6 figures for cavalry – I also was going for a "mass" look – I should get some pics out!

Excellent video presentation of your game!

Very nicely done! 2x2 is 2 cm by 2 cm right?

Very clever and entertaining. On a more sober note I came away convinced that 6mm was definitely not the way to go for ACW. I didn't get the mass effect that I wanted to see at that scale. It looked more like miniature 15s. I've been painting up 25s for ACW and am happy to I've chosen this scale to play the period in.

A couple of technical errors.

Buford is spelled with one "f" and not two.

Confederates should be spelled with a capital "C".

Thanks for posting the AAR. Very nicely done! What did you use for the roads?

I have 6mm Adler. But mainly I stick with my 10mm and 1/72 20mm. Just have too many of them already painted. My 10mm (1000+ painted) are mounted on 2" x 2" stands 16-20 per stand.

Thanks,

John

ACARHJ =the bases are indeed 2cm by 2cm.

MARCUS BRUTUS =Thanks for the constuctive feedback on the spelling it never was my strongest asset lol but in regards to the "I didn't get the mass effect that I wanted to see at that scale. It looked more like miniature 15s" Then you are spot on as they are smaller miniatures to 15mm, seeing as they are 6 mm.

John = Some of the roads were borrowd but im sure you can get them from most suppliers however the orangey coloured ones are mine I got them from a holby train model shop, they are plastic cards roughly £1.50 GBP a sheet and the size is roughly 20cm by 25cm enough to make 6 strips of 3cm by 25cm roads. They cut very easily with house hold sissors.

Apologies for any spelling mistakes lol

Thanks for the tip. The more I watch that video the more I like it. The figs are VERY nice. The battle is very impressive.

I really appreciate you taking the time to create and post this!

Hat's off.

Awesome looking figures and excellent choice of music! I purchased GoG a couple months ago and can't wait to give them a try.

ebsc8219 Apr 2009 5:42 a.m. PST

Stern Rake Studio = The GoG rules are to me a great regimental rule set and I have tried others but not to my liking, so all I can say is give them a go.

I thought the units looked impressively massive. The music from G'burg the Movie certainly helped a lot! Going to have to watch it again soon, now.

Hi Ricky

After watching the movie clip again & speaking to James about it, we could not help to notice that it was very pro Yankie. Also you left out the most important part of the battle so far. What happened to the Iron brigade by start of turn eight. Ah well only 30 more turns to play this Sunday.

Go on The Rebs

ebsc8225 Apr 2009 3:15 p.m. PST

The iron brigade did not run away infact they held off two full brigades, it was the dice sir that failed not the brigade.

virginia soldier25 Apr 2009 7:25 p.m. PST
