I'm looking seriously at starting a range exploring this little-represented aspect of my country's military history. My question is – would they be of interest to folk? I'm contemplating 54mm as my main scale, and the figures would be available in a toy-soldier style finish, in presentation boxes. (They may also be available as bare castings.) I'm also enthusiastic to put together some ranges of 42mm Little Wars chaps. I'd love to hear what people think would be good ranges. What would YOU like to see? Thanks to all! |

Britain's 54mm toy soldier style has been done for a number of years, and I suspect that the market is saturated, judging by the number of unsold boxes I've seen in Sydney. As for 42mm, you'd have to create your own demand, figure collectors tend to stick to 54's or whatever they already have, and they wouldn't fit in with regular wargaming either. |

I would be interested if it was a wargaming range of figures, not a presentation type of thing. |

A company already does a 54mm range, Ozmade miniatures from Gosford, you will find him on Ebay, the figures were sculpted by Mike Broadbent. They are available as unpainted or painted in a display box. I personally would prefer 28mm or 40mm cheers matt |

Thanks for the feedback, gents. What I have in mind would not be along the lines of Ozmade's figs, as theirs appears to be a 'sampler' of different units, in static poses. My designs are more 'dynamic', but still definitely toy soldiers. There's already a few manufacturers out there making 42's, including Irregular. My idea is to create some troops that are currently unavailable. All would be available as unpainted castings, with the wargamer in mind, with sufficient variation to field whole units with command, etc. |

Surprised by the interest in 28mm for this subject. Do those of you chasing these in this scale have a particular use in mind? Particular campaign, Victorian SF, what if scenarios, etc? My interest-o-meter is going up a notch

For me it's VSF (with an emphasis on the F, and just enough S thrown in for fun). Check out this Yahoo group for more prospective customers: link |

I would want the 28mm figures for wargaming alternative history wargames – for the earlier colonial figures a Russian invasion of Australia (it was fear of this that triggered the creation of colonial forces during the Crimean war) or other settings.
