As a gamer, how many zombies do you need in your collection before you say, "I have enough." |
aecurtis | 04 Apr 2009 6:34 p.m. PST |
Can you say "moratorium"? I knew you could. |
Saber6 | 04 Apr 2009 6:37 p.m. PST |
1 more than I have on hand |
| Ambush Alley Games | 04 Apr 2009 6:47 p.m. PST |
Enough? I'm not sure this word means what you think it does. ;) |
| shelldrake | 04 Apr 2009 6:59 p.m. PST |
no such thing as too many zombies |
| CLDecker | 04 Apr 2009 7:00 p.m. PST |
any number greatly in excess of my current horde. |
| Inquisitor Thaken | 04 Apr 2009 7:04 p.m. PST |
I have 12 undead TOTAL in my collection. For me, they occasionally haunt graveyards or serve necromancers, but they are not vast armies moving in waves across the landscape. That's what the giant army ants are for. |
| Captain Apathy | 04 Apr 2009 7:34 p.m. PST |
I have 72 Heroscape zombies with 20 Eureka zombies en route. I would like to think would be enough, but I know better. |
| Pictors Studio | 04 Apr 2009 7:44 p.m. PST |
I would say somewhere around 300 is enough in most scales for most purposes. But if you are doing a fantasy undead army you could probably double that. |
| Ed the Two Hour Wargames guy | 04 Apr 2009 8:06 p.m. PST |
I routinely run ATZ con games with up to 12 players and do it with around 80 zombies maximum. |
| Sumo Boy | 04 Apr 2009 8:28 p.m. PST |
About 50-60 have served me well for skirmish gaming. Of course, the problem is that they keep infecting the other figures. |
Rogzombie | 04 Apr 2009 8:32 p.m. PST |
I am aiming for 1,000 but if new ones came out I would be pursuaded to buy them. Kind of ridiculous but imagine how that would look on your table surrounding your Mila Jovovich mini. I'm just starting so I dont even know how many I have. I can account for around 20 now, but I have to dig around some more. Things acn always be made into zombies, too. |
| Black Autumn Productions | 04 Apr 2009 9:01 p.m. PST |
100 is a good number in most cases I should think. Have fun! Michael |

I don't understand why people get mad that Zombies seem to be the figures people are making now. If the market supports them what's the problem? Personally I like to see more because I am having fun painting them. Aren't there to many Romans, Celts, and WWII Etc
It all depends on your perspective. |
Rdfraf | 04 Apr 2009 9:54 p.m. PST |
I bought 480 of the new plastic ones from WF, 60 of the Old Glory ones and about 100 of the Eureka ones. I have realized I have overbought and have been trying to sell some of them off on ebay. |

Including Zombie Dogs from Twilight Creations and several sets of Legion of the Damned from Odemars all in 1/72nd scale I have about 400 plus the Undead from Caesar Miniatures. I probably should get a few more. I posted a few photos on my blog of them. Mike "Bunkermeister" Creek bunkermeister.blogspot.com |

I had 110 and I found it to be plenty even for huge games. |

I found I wanted 50-60 for my ATZ games (28mm & 15mm). Reaching those levels, now I just keep an eye out for unique single sculpts. |
| vampifan | 05 Apr 2009 4:33 a.m. PST |
A zombie horde should look like a horde. That means lots of figures. 100+ at a minimum. I have over 200 painted 28mm scale zombies and I'm still collecting. The concept of having too many zombies does not compute with me! The more the merrier! |
| Historicalgamer | 05 Apr 2009 6:36 a.m. PST |
One is MORE than enough
. uh, I mean, Zombies are great !!! <whew, Bill might be looking> |
| Sterling Moose | 05 Apr 2009 6:59 a.m. PST |
You can never have too many Zombies. |
| Neotacha | 05 Apr 2009 7:12 a.m. PST |
As soon as I have a side of zombie morris dancers, I'll have enough. For the moment. |
| Roosta | 05 Apr 2009 7:36 a.m. PST |
Zombie morris dancers!! You need help man. |
| Doctor Bedlam | 05 Apr 2009 7:47 a.m. PST |
Theoretically, I suppose it's possible to have too many. I mean, if they won't all fit on the table, and they're crowding out the buildings, that's too many. The problem lies in the fact that someone makes a new zombie, and it looks cooler than the ones I have. This requires buying and painting. And as long as this continues, I have a reason to keep buying zombies

Just as every vote counts, every zombie counts! |

Paul Andrew Hurst said, "I have no zombies." Give a man a zombie, and he'll run around in a panic for a day. Teach a man how to raise a horde of zombies, and he can make B horror movies for the rest of his life

According to my wife the answer to "How many zombies is enough?" is: Way less than the amount I currently have! |
| ROBemis | 05 Apr 2009 1:31 p.m. PST |
"0" I agree..and the thought of any on the table ruins an otherwise fun evening.
Waiting for the fad to pass

| Toaster | 05 Apr 2009 2:56 p.m. PST |
I always consider that when the numer of zombies exceeds 50% of my ammo I have too many. Oh minitatures. I use Gummy bears as zombies for my games, when you waste one you get to eat it. Robert |
| Smokey Roan | 05 Apr 2009 3:36 p.m. PST |
Now Blue Moon has 80 zombies (in 20 figure sets). Damn, there's never enough zombies! My favorites are still the "normal" human figure with a zombified version (we play that if you get killed, you play your figure as a zombie from then on)

Another "0." I completely failed to understand the appeal of this genre until a friend pointed out that, being already dead, it was OK to gleefully destroy them. All of the traditional subjects are now being covered by PC rules. |

Not a fad at all. Since All Things Zombie was released in 2005 it has been in the top four sales wise along with 5150 (sci-fi), NUTS! (WW 2), Warrior Heroes (fantasy). |

You have to embrace the inner zombie to understand this. I've been walking around like a zombie for years now
not to hard for me to relate! Dont forget to hit the used clix box at your local store, they are easy to convert. What we need now are some serious packs of dead people laying around. If there are zombies there is gonna be carnage. What about boss zombies. A few that came out of the vat bigger and stronger like in video games. I have a big reaper guy who is perfect for this! |
| Mr Brightside | 07 Apr 2009 8:24 p.m. PST |
Probably for scenarios only a couple dozen. I don't have any or do any horror gaming but it seems to me that in a scenario if you need more just make a rule that lets more pop up out of the ground after the gun toting heroes kill the others (can you kill zombies if they're already dead?). Just my two cents worth. ALV |
| Daffy Doug | 08 Apr 2009 8:51 p.m. PST |
I don't know off-hand how many undead I have, or zombies particularly. It isn't a great number: probably c. 150 total, including cavalry. I have used ALL of them in a single battle maybe once. I have "fielded" all the zombies more often than that; and I recall on one occasion, when there weren't enough of them, I just recycled the "redeaded" ones as needed. It worked

Rogzombie | 14 Apr 2009 7:17 p.m. PST |
I just collected my first 50 modern zombies. A box of Wargames factory(excellent btw), some horrorclix, reaper chronoscape and bits and pieces laying around I already had. Now I just have to paint them along with a handful of victims I've converted. I wonder if its possible to collect 1k without duplicates? It will be fun to try anyway. |
| Goldwyrm | 17 Apr 2009 7:10 a.m. PST |
I have about 440 in 28mm, of those 130 are painted, and 310 are currently in various states of preparation. That is not enough. I'd be happy with a round 4000 or roughly enough to cover 18 square feet of table space per my basing requirements. |
piper909 | 17 Apr 2009 8:39 p.m. PST |
This is one of those "How many angels can dance on the head of a pin?" questions, innit? Because it's unanswerable. I have over 500 and it doesn't feel like nearly enough to assault the Alamo, fight at Isandhlwana, threaten Thermopylae, or challenge Bonnie Prince Charlie. |
| aka Mikefoster | 03 May 2009 11:53 a.m. PST |
You can never have enough Zombies. You will always need more. |
| manatic | 03 May 2009 11:24 p.m. PST |
I have around 50 and I'm only just starting out. A couple of hundred might do for starters. I'll probably never use that many in a game, let alone fit them anywhere, but what can you do. |
Rogzombie | 07 May 2009 9:12 p.m. PST |
You guys who have hundreds of zombies, how much duplication are you finding you have. I wonder how many modern zombies there are to collect. Of course nearly anything can be converted with a little effort-chop off a leg and gouge out an eye. I think I have about 75-80 now and 14 painted so far. |
| vampifan | 08 May 2009 3:15 a.m. PST |
@ Rogcollectibles. If you shop around it is very easy to get 200+ zombies without any duplication. I've passed my 200 mark and am heading for 300 now. |
Rogzombie | 08 May 2009 8:40 p.m. PST |
Perhaps there will be even more around by the time I get to this point :) |
Rogzombie | 29 May 2009 10:23 p.m. PST |
Well I've amassed maybe 150 so far with 25 painted. I've collected enough 25mm round bases to get me into the 300s
I guess I better start thinking of storage space
