link I had been eyeing this the first time I saw it in a pile near a line at Borders back in December. I think they were asking about $50 USD for it and figured I'd wait until they were dumping it for less than $25. USD I noticed this while into one of my rare and quick forrays into Walmart yesterday. In their discount aisle. It was normally priced at $35 USD and selling for $17. USD Upon opening it, I noticed the figures were ideally sized for 28mm gaming. The Spartans were significantly smaller than the Action Clix ones and were integrally molded to 25mm round bases. The figures were molded in soft vinyl plastic, similar to Heroclix figures, but with no paint at all. Detail was OK, not as detailed as the Action Clix but better than some pieces you'd find in a typical board game. I suspect the figures can be painted like most clix figures after a nice coat of primer. The platforms are nice hard plastic with 1" square grids molded into them. Pretty plain looking with no details however. For $17 USD seems like some good terrain fodder to make some nice platforms and ramps. With the grids, this would make some nice 3D terrain for Star Wars Miniatures. You also get some sticker to make UNSC and Covenant banners for some capture the flag type scenarios. A pack of special d6's with faction logos on it. There's also some cardboard markers for things like spawn points and such. Overall the game appears to be sort of a low production value Heroscape with some sort of interactive DVD included. |

there is a link to the game: link and they WERE talking about MAYBE having 'additional suppliments/expansions/figures/vehicals?'
but given that the game is now in CLEARANCE
I wonder what the chances are for that now? In a way, it's sorta 'frustrating' because of 'SST-interruptus' from Mongoose
(the dropships, Forth etc never-released)
and then 'Halo: Actionclix'
until WIZKIDS went into chapter whatever
bottom line
we keep getting 'teased' by what MIGHT be, could be
etc
but the 'bottom line' for Halo/SST and similar FUTURE combat etc games is that more likely than not, we'll have to modify, kitbash and even scratchbuild MORE often than not
as some of this stuff will just not 'happen'
(and CrdrKily, FYI, I got myself TWO 'Denny's rocket cups and am proudly getting ready to follow in your
'moonboots'? in converting them to pulp-style rockets
or DIET, trying!!! SLISH!!! 8-) 'If you MAKE it they will BUY it
.' (unless you're WK, etc)
.and then the rest of us will make our own!!! Hugs and Slishes, Sgt DWW-btod |

I bought 2 sets of these a while back. So far, I have used the boards for Steve Jackson's FRAG, and for WOTC's Star Wars Miniatures. They work pretty well – just have to add some house rules about vertical LOS and jumping up and down from platforms. If the game had been worth playing (I admit, after reading the rules once through I gave up the idea of ever actually playing it), these could have been a hot seller. |

Toys R Us has had it for ten, and I picked up two copies at either Ross or TJ Maxx (I forget which) for that some time back. I think they are more true 25's than anything else. Still, the scenics are very useful especially with a little work. |

I bought 5 of them a year ago at 10 bucks each on clearance. I was building a Covenant army. Yesterday at Cincycon I bought loads of Halo clicks for s little as a nickle each. I now have over a 100 of Covenant forces. I really wasn't too concerned about the UNSC. I still bought some including 2 warthogs and a Covenant attack craft. My son picked up some of the Flood figs. I'd happily mix the boardgame Covenant with the clix. The grunts are smaller but I'll mount them on a thicker base. Besides, they are grunts so who cares! My boys are Halo fans I knew little but liked the figs. I'll be working on a Fubar army list for them. Thanks, John |
