I believe the towering thin masts (as well as sturdy tripods and oil derricks
err cages ) are one of the most distinguishing features of Great War naval vessels. As most of my 1/2400 fleet are CnC and Panzerschiffe, I have scratch built mast for all of my capital ships. I am now looking at 8 cruisers and wondering if the fiddlyness is worth it. They will have to be quite thin to look right. So, I ask Do you model mast? And in what scale if yea or nay? |

I do masts on anything up to ACW ironclads, regardless of scale (in my case, 1:1200 for Ancients and 1:2400 for Age of Sail). After that, I do masts on 1:1200 and larger. I don't do masts for anything smaller as they're just too fiddly. Even at 1:1200 the survivability of my masts at game time isn't too good. |

Given that I did them for 1/3000 down through cruiser plus the odd DD and do some of my 1/6000 through CA, my answer for 1/2400 is a firm yes. |

Yes. Try nylon bristles for the smaller vessels. They are closer to scale, don't break and don't spear ya! |

We use thin brass K & S wire an sharpen the mast tops
we play on the floor an in stocking feet thus everyone is extremely careful with the minis. |
