I play this game solo. Monday morning I set up a game and was able to get in one turn, drawing and resolving one mythos card, moving the characters and resolving their first Arkham encounters before leaving for the day.

When I got back home, you'd think that there would only be one Mythos card in the discard pile.

You'd think.

There was quite a stack, without having counted them. Maybe eight or ten.

Well, this sort of thing has been going on in this place of mine for about eighteen month, so I merely picked up the extra cards and put them back on the top of the pile and began playing.

I haven't begun to scratche the surface of the horror I was to experience.

The card I had drawn before leaving directed me to put all monsters in street location (a) back in the cup. There were none.

The first card I drew after returning home directed me to return all monsters in street location (b). None.

The next card: return monsters from street location (c). None

When the next two cards directed me to return monsters from streets (d and e), I had to read them all again.

Okay, one of them directed me to place two monsters in a street. I was on a roll and misread it.

When the sixth overall card called for the return of monsters from still another street, I turned in all random items and clues, recovered all sanity/stamina loss, returned the investigators to their at/start locations, reissued new random items and began again.

I'd like to think a human agency is involved, but nothing ever comes up missing, which pretty much shoots down that theory.

The game is sentient. At the very least, it can alter probability to beat your investigators to a gibbering pulp. That is, unless it decides to lull you into a false sense of security, like it did with you.

I can't wait to play again!

Are you sure you are not playing with Murphy? He is a well known weirdness magnet!
BTW, I love the game.

How many times have you read aloud the name Hastur?

Somebody is messing with your mind!

I love that game, by the way. We are overdue for a game.

Nothing to it. That old locksmithing course paid off, and your mind is totally messed with.
Bwaah ha ha.

Any updates JW? I must know more!

Beowulf

Maybe I can blame Murphy. I don't think this started happening until he started telling of the anomalies around his place.

Randall

I refused to look at the seventh Mythos card and just started from scratch. The next two games, no incident.

This has been going on since a few months after I moved into this place. I've got a couple posts elsewhere.

Here's two more.

Playing Formula De, I dropped the Black Die of Fate, a 20-sider. It bounced into a small niche between the stove and cabinet.

I heard it bounce on the tile once, twice, three times. I'm still waiting for it to bounce a fourth time or hit the baseboard. Maybe when I wasn't home.

I was writing myself a note and wanted to highlight a certain portion of it. When I put the Hi-Liter down, it began to roll. Big deal. It'll hit the carpet in the living room and I'll go get it when I'm done.

When I turned the corner of the cabinet and looked down, it wasn't there.

I bought a three-pack, so I just went into the bedroom and got another.

As I approached the partition between the living room and kitchen, I saw something yellow on the countertop. It was the Hi-Liter I had dropped.

As a matter of fact, though, Sunday, one of the breakers kept tripping, maybe six or eight times in just a few minutes. It finally straighted out, but it may have been a sign of alien infestation.
