The Malta Aerial Game went real well at Cold Wars. We played 4 rounds with atotal of 9 players through out the game.
The Italians won the scenario
devastating bombing on the island taking out one air field and a radar site in rounds one and two. They did only take out one transport ship out of four possible with torpedoes in the third round. One of my two bombers was shot down and the other two bombers missed their target. The 4thround was a fighter sweep Machi 202 vs Spitfires.
Some odd/fun things did happen in the game
Two of the Gladiators collided and killed each other and the Maltese AAA shot down a Spitfire. The AAA caused a lot of damage to the bombers but no kills in game one. Nothing to speak of in games 2-3 except for the Spitfire they shot
down! And they hit a few fighters in game four but little damage.
The Italians fighters shot down 3 planes and of the one players bomber shot down a Hurricane
RAF pilot bailed after a Heavy Hit! To bad that same bomber later took a hit and started on fire the crew bailed and were all captured!
The RAF did shoot down two SM 79's and two fighters. One bomber was hit by two fighters and AAA and exploded, they all got credit for the kill. The RAF needed a few more pilots in the air to stop the Italians Air Force.
Thanks to the convention players. I see one of them has all ready joined the WBiM Yahoo group.
BIG Thanks to my good buddy Squadron Leader Malcolm for leading the RAF a Cold Wars! It was a tough fight for him and he was "Mentioned in Dispatches" for his leadership and fun play! It was his Gladiators that collided into each other in round one and then again into a SM 70 in round two and to top it al off it was his Spitfire shot down by friendly fire!!!
Also I want to thank my friends at the Battle Barn and Waterloo Minis for all their help with the scenario and playing testing the rules.
Next up for us Richmond WBiMer's will be our "Burma DEC 1941-Jul 1942 Campaign" for the local players and for Fall-In next Nov; JD's BIG Marianas Turkey Shoot game!
