There you will see the latest captioned photo story involving the French (Gallian) Army of 1759/2009 versus Der Alte Fritz in our BAR tabletop historical miniatures campaigning.

Wow, what wonderful staging Bill. I enjoyed following the story and walking from room to room. Nice job constructing the interiors of the stage.

Nice to see it's not just wargamers who need to limit the size of their tables…..

All I can say, and I mean this in the best possible way. 'I hate you!'

Looks great and I love the idea.

As a follow-up, at the end of the story you see Dragoons of the Fischer Legion as the leading edge of the French Army en-route to Minden, Westphalia. Eventually the Army meets up with a supply train protected by British and Brunswick units. We shall game this on 21 March at the 26th Annual Seven Years' War Assn. gathering in South Bend, Indiana, USA.

See Battlegame's Table Top Teasers Volume 1 published in January 2009 for the map (page 54) and to get an idea what we will be doing or rather adapting from for our adaptation of same. Thanks to Charles Grant for the idea and to Henry for publishing this particular "Teaser."

Votre Serviteur,
Bill

PS The Battlegames website has the Teaser for sale.

Wonderful photo story. Now, that is what I call a decent map to work out the strategic plannings. Great. Impossible that Mr. le maréchal will miss the right direction. Impossible anny of his opponents will have superior maps.

By the way, how do you guys play the off table campaign moves?

Danke Christian,
We do not have official map moving as in a board game. The basics at the moment are:
--------------
French Magazines: Frankfurt Am Main and Koblenz.
French operations come from these.
----------------
Der Alte operates with a Prussian Army (Hesse-Seewald) based in that imagination just northeast of Fulda.
-----------------
We kind of operate like this:
~~
1. Savory mentions everyone withdrew back to their magazines at the end of each campaign season. We do that.
~~
2. In 2009 Der Alte is painting British. In 2008 his British opted to camp at Minden and he began building works. I ignored it last year but this year since he is augmenting his British, I'm sending the French north sort of to Minden.
~~
3. We had thought to use the Friedrich board-game map and did so for a while. We might return to that.
~~
4. Per the Germania blog entry you read the French are heading toward Minden from Koblenz. We decided to try the Grant Wagon Train Teaser. The British with Brunswick auxiliaries owned the train. Whether the French won or lost that game did not matter, the French are still heading north.
~~
5. Also this is the 250th anniversary of the actual battle of Minden – an additional incentive.
----------
Kind regards,
Bill

Fantastic! I wish I had the skill to do that. Truely inspirational.

Yikes! The French are heading towards Minden. Thanks for the warning Bill. It's a good thing that I'm in the process of painting the 1st Regt. of Guards then. It sounds like I will need them.
