I'm always looking for cheap civilians to be rescued/eaten for my modern/near future games. Has anybody tried these and do they mix with 15s (Peter Pig, Rebel, GZG etc)? A wash of brown or black to dull them down and I think they'd be fine.

PS- sorry about the Medieval crosspost, got a bit carried away.

They'll almost certainly look rather skinny next to most if not all 15mm metal figures. (I love the guy in the pink suit, though….)

I bought a number for exactly that purpose (about 200 I think). They're OK but rather fragile, and quite a bit smaller than most 15mm figures. Most do not have bases either which can be a proverbial pain as well. In the end I'm not mending them as they fall apart and will replace mine with metal figures as I get time.

I'd be multi basing them on steel washers, 5-8 to a base for that terrified mob look. Actually, they might be useful for Ambush Alley civilian mobs (might need a bit of a paint job first though, as they're all very western looking). And they're listed as 19mm so I thought they'd look fine next to modern 15s. Skinny, yes, but most of my figures are military and look very bulky in real life due to all of their kit.
I've bought them anyway. 100 figures for less than a fiver, including p&p, can't be bad. Even if they're rubbish I could just use them as casualty markers or scenery (huge piles of corpses littering the streets- wish I'd bought some more now). Can you tell I like my zombie games?

They're actually 18mm figures as HO is 1/87 rather than 1/100. But given the vagaries of human sizes, plus the aforementioned bulk of military figures, there shouldn't be an issue – especially at that price.

That is what I've been using them for as well, – based in groups of 4. As they are hard plastic the figures glue to plasticard OK. They don't stand up to handling that well, and the painting on the ebay account shows them in rather better might than the ones that I recieved. Neverthless they are a quick way of getting a crowd on your playing table.

Here's a link to the Zombie / SF campaign I've been running at our club.

That's great paulkit. That's the kind of thing I'm planning using Ambush Z/Force on Force when it comes out. You're even using the GZG universe as well.
In my plan the zombie plague is actually an engineered virus released to damage the NAC defences before a FSE or ESU attack. They have already funded a rebel insurgency which gives me a chance to play Ambush Alley guilt free.
I find it easier to play New Anglian Confederation troops dealing with a foreign funded insurgency on one of their more remote worlds than Iraq or Afghanistan. Silly, I know, as I understand veterans of both conflicts are happy to game them but that's me. It also allows me to drop in zombies and use GZG and Combat Wombat vehicles as well as, hopefully, some SF fleet actions, all within the same campaign.

Pretty much the same direction we've been going in. 13 or 14 games so far in the campaign (9 players) with them hanging on by the skin of their teeth. They are not making too mauch progress against the 100k Plus zombies in the planetary capital.(they have killed about 5k of them) Haven't yet got to the stage of Force on Force yet though we've had a skirmish or two.

The GZG universe works quite well. The enemies (so far only glimpsed) are the Bears on this page link , kitted out with a mix of Combat Wombat and GZG vehicles, but mostly `hidden away' from the players.

So for the players a nice fusion of role playing, wargaming and terrible paranoia (as they don't know quite what is coming next ) :-). We are using a mod of Slammers rules for the actual games which fly along at a rate of knots.

Here's the player brief for the last game (played last weekend)
