AHEM
..we can of course probably arrange for the rules to be sent in a plain wrapper, when they are finally released. Mal. From: Michael Moore Date: 9/03/2009 2:25:09 AM To: NavWarGames@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [NavWarGames] Re: Convoy Sizes World War 2 North Atlantic
I am a middle aged man overweight but avg in height. I rarely left the house My routine was work and then home with the odd trip to wallmart for supplies After only a few test plays of Mals game 3 of the women I work with asked me Out on dates ,one even had the audacity to slap me on me bum and said Something about how she was going to use me like a tube of toothpaste. That Night I used the dead bolt. Then desperately needing supplies I drove to Wallmart
..its very hard to experience but for the good of the rest of You I will try to carry on , I was in the fitting room trying on a pair of Guess jeans when the door opened and a rather attractive women of about 25 Came in she pinned me against the wall and ran her hands all over my belly And licked the side of my neck I could smell the perfume of her hair fell Her hot breath on my ear her incredible body pressed against mine . In a Final last gambit to avert being molested I was able to free my Protractor from it's holster I jabbed it lightly into her arm to my horror She seemed to become more excited and kissed me deeply
I'm sorry
.I can't do this please
Mals game should be Banned

I would buy these if I was single! But unfortunately, I don't have any miniatures for them. -- Tim |

That name should be Chicken Bird, not Ditto! You could be a chick magnet too like Mikey! |
McKinstry | 09 Mar 2009 2:06 p.m. PST |
I know the rules and can't wait to see them in print but, and it's a huge but, if all the really hot chicks in the history of naval gaming suddenly assaulted Mikey en masse, he'd still be a pure as the driven snow. I suspect Mal is impregnating the trial rules with a powerful hallucenogenic compound absorbed directly through the skin or Mikey has been hitting the Oxacan ditchweed really heavily. |

I think he's just trying to distract us from the fact that it'll be another year before release
|
Mal Wright | 11 Mar 2009 2:08 a.m. PST |
I dunno Daniel! I've got conflicting release dates, so I'm not sure. |
| Daniel | 11 Mar 2009 8:12 p.m. PST |
Either way you've got quite a following ready to go! |
Mal Wright | 11 Mar 2009 10:48 p.m. PST |
Thanks Daniel. I sure hope so. Sales will persuade the publisher to publish more! |

UP Date : Ive had to quit my job the boss said all those women fondleing my 1/3000 escort carriers was too distracting. He didnt care how cute they where. I still lock myself in at night,There starting to get smarter baiting me with questions about the torpedo effects table but I'm no fool I know what Effect they want from my torpedo. Mal dosent take my calls any more all I here is demonic luaghter on the other end before it hangs up. Thank god the Hardback Flames of WAR rulebook still repels them..if thers anyone still out there I can offer you shelter, food and security surely Mals rules havent turned all of you into FEMBOTS

Hot Chicks and all that stuff aside, I have to say that this is probably the best simulation of the convoy aspect of naval gaming I have seen thus far. Aside from the fact that one can easily substitute just about any rules system (including SK5) for the detailed tactical combat (when necessary), the entire approach is
well
quite refreshing. IMO, this is a combination strategic/tactical level system that will allow players to truly experience this aspect of naval warfare at many levels -- not just the typical "shoot torpedoes at sitting ducks and then depth-charge the sub" you often see on the game table. Unless the final product is drastically altered by the publisher from the draft version Mal provided, this is definitely a 'must have' for those who fancy a riveting simulation of WW2 convoy battles. |

Well, he has our attention. All that's left is the wait

"Unless the final product is drastically altered by the publisher from the draft version Mal provided" Rich, Apart from sorting things out a bit, making the terms I use uniform throughout, etc I am pleased to announce that the editor (Larry Bond) and the others assisting, have accepted my principles of play. So they have not altered it in the sense of play and allowed my personal touches to come through. They have known from the start that the rule sections were not to be turned into a clone of any other rule set, and have kept to that very well. Of course Larry is Larry, so the first thing a couple of people here said, when they saw the front page layout, was "Yep
.Larry Bond laid it out". However ALL of us are anxiously waiting to try it in public at conventions to see if it really does draw the chicks like Mikey claims! This will determine if there needs to be a disclaimer so I cannot be held responsible if the players become so sexy that they get attacked by frantic women who just want them for their bodies! Of course there are SOME who could do with a bit of help!

"this is definitely a 'must have' for those who fancy a riveting simulation of WW2 convoy battles." High praise indeed! But wait
is a 'riveting simulation' the same thing as a rivet counter's simulation? Inquiring minds want to know
because I'm not sure how many more women I can handle than when I play SK5
it may all be too much for me <sigh.> |
| 6pounder | 14 Jun 2009 2:36 p.m. PST |
Or was that a misprint
and did he mean a riveting sTimulation? |

Or was that a misprint
and did he mean a riveting sTimulation? I am definitely writing a disclaimer! If the game causes the players to become uncontrollably sexually attractive, they will just have to deal with it themselves. |

If anyone wants to get over stimulated, I believe there will be a test game of Deadly Waters at Historicon!!! |
| VicCina | 19 Jul 2009 8:37 a.m. PST |
Mal, I play tested the game last month with Andy D. here in Oregon. The group loved them and we will be playing them again next month when we get together again. Great set of rules. Victor |
Mal Wright | 19 Jul 2009 6:48 p.m. PST |
Glad you enjoyed them Victor. Do you have any comments on game play? |
| 6pounder | 19 Jul 2009 6:54 p.m. PST |
By mistake I stumbled into a secret room at Historicon and there I glimpsed a cabal of gamers hovering like witches over a copy of "DEADLY WATERS by Mal Wright" They also had a standard 9.5" X 11" sheet of paper with a 1/6000 convoy arrayed on it
but my unexpected arrival only resulted in hushed tones and hostile stares, so I retreated back by retracing my steps in reverse and never turning my back in dread of the consequences. All I learned is that Larry Bond and two other guys managed to get their names on the cover as editors
which I'm sure gratifies Mal as it will help sell copies. |

We thought the game played very quickly and we like the setup for programed map that the subs and convoy follow. Nicely done. As played it had a great level of detail, which I think anything more will destroy its quick play feature. We did find that we couldn't figure out how to use the Hydrophones on the subs. Over all we liked them. Victor |
Mal Wright | 19 Jul 2009 10:06 p.m. PST |
6pounder. If you had told them you were looking to take part in a game, you could have done so. I arranged with Larry that anyone who enquired, could join in. |
Mal Wright | 19 Jul 2009 10:09 p.m. PST |
"As played it had a great level of detail, which I think anything more will destroy its quick play feature." That is something I am resolutely defending! I've put in the detail that I think players will enjoy, without clogging the speed with which it can be played. Suggestions like logging game moves are completely against the principles of my writing style and will just slow it down.

I hope Larry Bond doesn't kill it with making overly complicated. |
| Larry Bond | 20 Jul 2009 11:59 a.m. PST |
Victor, I am NOT adding detail to Mal's game. The simplicity of his system is what makes it attractive to Clash of Arms. We've already got a detailed game with CaS. Mal's simpler game is the perfect complement. BTW, simpler does not mean less accurate. Thanks for your playtest efforts with Andy. I'm already working on the to-do list that came out the games we played Friday and Saturday nights. As soon as we've got them cleaned up I'll send another playtest draft to Andy and others. 6pounder, I don't know what game you wandered by, but it couldn't have been the one we were playing on either night. There certainly weren't any hushed tones. And hostile stares must have been the result of poor vision. I do remember there was a stand selling beer just outside the door. Maybe you stopped there a few too many times before coming in. Larry Bond |

Larry/Mal, WHOA there! I was joking
not complaining. My apologies to you and any others who may have got the wrong idea. Ad hoc posters etc
were indeed put up in front of Distlefink saying on Saturday saying that interested parties could sign up to see the game. Unfortunately I didn't come across them until too late. But there is literal truth to what I wrote. I wandered in to the room beside New Holland by mistake and four guys were sitting around with a convoy template and the rules. They might have been discussing colonizing Mars, for all I know, but it obviously wasn't the demo because there was no beer in sight. Anyway, everyone seems to feel this one is a winner so sooner or later I will play it
just not with your Admiralty crew. |

This is getting out of context guys. I understand what you meant 6pdr. I can understand them being protective of you trying to obtain some of the sexual attraction of the game! Larry has obviously not read the first post and realised we are all teasing around. |
