I have added some photos of a 25/28mm Star Fort to my Blog site for those with a passing interest.

Very nice – combine it with some of the redoubts shown in an earlier entry and you will have a good siege set up.

Impressive!

Nice, but how do you simulate the ditch and glacias?

In answer to Balin Shortstuff's question, I don't simulate the ditch and the glaciacs. My wife asked the same question and I suppose taking her to europe to visit some of these type forts was a mistake.
The short answer is that there are a number of factors as to why, but in essence it came down to Time, Simplicity of use, Other projects calling.
I can, of course revisit this piece and add the ditch at a later date.
As Mapleleaf states I have other Redoubts to add to the defences so this is not a pressing matter for me.

The brown ground work could run the length of the outer wall; thereby serving as a ditch. Though the difference in height would be 1 or 2 mm, the contrast would clearly define a ditch.

Still, it is a formidable work.

Wow, that looks superb.

Do you know who the manufacturer is?

Do they make it in 15mm as well?

Thanks,

Rob

A superb piece indeed!

Rob,
It was a New Zealand manufacturer and my understanding is that they are longer produced. I also believe they did make a 15mm version a well.
It is solid resin and quite heavy. I know I had to carry it back to Australia in my back pack!!

I still need to do the road and the wood work and perhaps a flag/pole.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the info.

Sorry to hear they are no longer being produced.

Yes, I can imagine the weight of it, since most resin is very heavy.

Best regards,

Rob

Perhaps just using colored poster board to represent the ditch, you can then use something like trench pieces to represent the covered way.
