I am considering getting a tattoo of the Ultramarines logo on my upper left arm and maybe a cool quote to go beneath it. What cool 40K type quote should I use? 1. For the Emperor! 2. Space Marines 3. I am the Emperor's Champion
Any other suggestions? |
Earl of the North | 05 Mar 2009 12:51 p.m. PST |
This should be good. John PS If your serious, 'for the emperor' sounds good. Although why not go for something less silly
like a naked pirate lady. |
Delthos | 05 Mar 2009 12:51 p.m. PST |
My vote would be either "Courage and Honor!", the battle cry of the Ultramarines or "For the Emperor!" As you are going with the Ultramarines logo, these seem most likely as they are pretty much the ideal for Space Marines. |

I'd go with the "I'm the emperor's champion" but get it tattooed just above a part much lower than your arm. |

I don't think so – he could really be FROM the Ultramarines. You never know – perhaps he is one of their scouts looking for new recruits? Heck – if you are going to make your body a canvas – get what you want – I'd not go with the suggestion of the OFM though – |

I have an imperial eagle. I think it looks good! If you are getting something chapter specific, make sure it's on the correct arm. Terminator honors on the left, that sort of thing. |

Personally, I'd never get a 40K tattoo – but I don't find the idea any more ridiculous than having a sports team logo or motorcycle brand name tattoo. Besides, done right, it could look pretty cool. ;) I'd go with one of the harsher 40K slogans, like: "Death to the Mutant!" "Service is Honor!" Or, perhaps – "There is no time for Peace, there is only WAR!" |
Mooseworks8 | 05 Mar 2009 1:50 p.m. PST |

If you're really going to do it, do it in latin. Slightly OT but when I was heavy into 40K I met someone that had an imperial eagle on his forehead. A big imperial eagle. Honestly, I found it frightening. |

In my opinion "For the Emperor" is probably the best, but "Courage and Honor" is also highly appropriate. You could go with "Space Marines Fear No Evil For We are Fear Incarnate" (I might have that one wrong), or "We Shall Know No Fear", or "Heresy Begets Retribution". I could do this all day. Honestly I could. Joey |

I once watched an "exotic" movie, purely for research of course, and one of the male leads had the Slaanesh rune tattooed on his chest. |

Personally, I advise against tattoos, but if you must, I'd go with something like Ambush Alley's suggestion of "Service is Honor". Remember that you would like ordinary people seeing your tattoo not to mistake it for a terrorist or hate group emblem. So I'd avoid such terms as death, mutant, or emperor that might be misconstrued. It's not like you can erase it if you change your mind later, unless you have several thousand dollars for a painful and slightly dangerous laser procedure. |

Wont the GW legal dept, come round with chainsaws and acid? They did on one occasion I know of, without the chainsaws of course. One of the staffers in Memphis was getting a large back tattoo of a Slaanesh symbol, and was then asked to provide the name of the tattoo parlor doing the work. So get this, the tattoo parlor got a C&D from GW legal, then GW retracted it when they found out the tattoo artist doing the work was one of their own staff in Memphis as well. The guy getting the tattoo was in Direct Sales, and the guy doing the tattooing was in Shipping. Funny, IMHO. |

A lot of tattoo ideas come from the old chaos books. I know of 3 tattoo places that have them in their idea books for people to look through. The art work in them are some of the best GW has ever done. |

I think the tattoo on the back of my neck that says HEREFORD UTD SKINHEAD (that some other, younger and more foolish person bearing my name had done) is bad enough, but a GW Hobby tattoo, well, that's just roll-about-on-the-floor-in-hysterics laughable. I really cannot talk, as I have all kinds of stupid tattooed all over me, but this one really takes the comic biscuit. Perhaps you should reconsider and get the word "NERD" done instead. At least then there is a chance people will think it is a reference to Pharrell Williams' band. |

I would go with "For the Emperor" if I had to do Ultramarines though. |

It's no stupider than white people that get Native American or Asian stuff done, I mean what does ripping off other peoples culture have to do with these assclowns. If it means something to you and you can live with it the rest of your life than do it. I've seen too many idiots get some piece of crap just 'cause it looked cool. I've had occasional regrets about some of mine, but in the long run each symbolizes a piece of my life. |
