Hey folks,

A buddy and I are looking at doing 15mm moderns for FoF and Cold War commander, and I'm interested in doing a modern Polish force. Any thoughts on infantry options? I'm inclined to think maybe PP IDF with some slight helmet trimming, or if someone makes ultra-modern ruskies…. any thoughts?

Thanks,
TWP

Grom uses a lot of Western gear and as such looks very similar to many special forces units:

Poland was supplied with a lot of US gear recently, including uniforms, boots, helmets, and weaponry. Their MPSU troops apparently are hard to distinguish from US troops. I don't know how much of that goes down to standard troops, though. If you learn more, let me know – Poland is one of the countries I'm keeping close notes on to produce a good TO&E for!

I've been digging around for a while on it, and essentially the line infantry wear US gear, while carrying Russian style weaponry… I'm tempted to try taking PP's Marines, and sculpting AK's onto them… what'd be perfect is if O could find miniatures that were of Americans carrying AK's… so far no luck though.

You should send an e-mail to Mike at Rebel Minis or Geoff at QRF about it. Maybe they'd do something up. Figures in US gear carrying AKs and other Russian weaponry would be useful as troops for a couple of old Pact countries and for Iraqi police and defense force.

They are on the list, but a little way down.

I thought Pole Bitwy was doing some modern 15mm Polish infantry?

Good to hear Geoff, if I trade you my soul could you start them earlier? ;). Hmm, guess it looks like I'll be doing some conversions for the time being, now the question is the easiest route for that…

I haven't worked on the US weapons yet… well, I do have the M249/Minimi for the Brits, and a new 0.50 Barrett. I alo have a bunch of new masters sat here without arms waiting for me to do the M16. Arctic troops anyone?

Geoff, keep us posted when the Poles arrive please!

After the postwar Germans, modern Germans, modern Chinese, postwar Brits and postwar Canadians, by the looks of it.

Sorry for the thread necromancy, but are you familiar with any company doing the 15mm modern Poles now? I'm tempted by the Fighting Season, but I'd prefer having Poles as the Western side, not the Muhricans :)

Here is a company making 15mm modern Poles:
