Hi, Can anyone tell me (in as much detail as possible...) about these two games? What I am looking for is a fast and flexible way to play sci-fi infantry actions, larger than platoon sized, and optionally fantasy/renaissance (thus the HS&S query). How does it compare to Striker? Please note I am not interested in Stargrunt, Dirtside, Iron Cow or any skirmish scale games, as I have already researched just about everything out there. Thanks much! Scott

I have the rules somewhere. If interested in them give me a shout. I was looking for an alternative to Space Marine and scenarip ideas. Never played them. My email is dmanspano@yahoo.com. I have no need for them. |

Hellfire is very fast, fairly versatile at adapting a variety of settings, covers the scale you seen to be asking for (an in-game unit of 10 or so bases is roughly a company, or a large platoon), and handles morale and reaction to events in an interesting fashion. I found it a bit lacking in detail and somewhat too abstract, although the sample scenarios were certainly imaginative. But then again, I like Stargrunt and Dirtside, so clearly our tastes differ. Hellswords is essentially a fantasy mod for Hellfire, with relatively few changes to the basic mechanics. IIRC some fairly limited-use magic and a greater role for heroic types are the main changes, along with variant morale charts for undead types. Rich |

Thanks Rich for the summary. Please note I'm not knocking Dirtside or Stargrunt, I was just specifically looking for info on Hellfire, and not alternate recommendations as this kind of question frequently garners. Scott |

Just to let you know Hellswords & Sorcery is out of print and we are not planning at present to reprint. Hellfire is still available. Cheers Steve Blease Wessex Games |

Hmmm...I could probably be talked into selling my copy, if I can find it in storage. Rich |

@HundVig – please let me know if you still have your copy of Hellswords & Sorcery and are still interested in parting with it? |
