A couple of weeks ago our local Sacramento wargaming group put on a Warhammer Ancient Battles Viking vs Norman game. You can see some pictures here.

I do not believe you have to be a myspace member to view these pictures.

The game was played at Great Escape Games in Sacramento. Special thanks to Gary for his continuous support of Sacramento gaming. Please visit Gary's store if you are in town.

The Normans were painted by and belong to me. The Vikings belong to my good friend Mark. A good portion of the Vikings belonged to the late and great Scott Hayes. In fact the game was played on Scott's birthday to honor his memory.

The battle included over 1,000 miniatures. No points were calculated as I do not believe in points; I believe in scenarios. The Vikings took the day by a large margin. However, it must be noted that Mark conquered his side of the board, an astounding feat for Mark (wink, wink).

Thank you to all the guys who participated (Mike 1, Mike 2, Mark 1, Mark 2, Joe, and Jim "The man")

Oh yeah, ignore the Samurai and Arab warrior. Just click on "my photos."

Absolutely amazing looking game – very jealous!

Glad to see Scott's troops are still in use – hopefully his Cathaginians and Romans still get out on the battlefield as well. It's also nice to hear that people still remember him. I didn't know him that well, but he was always a great guy to play with at the Shield cons.

Do you guys meet up regularly to play WAB? I haven't had a chance to play in years, and am occasionally up in the Sac area to visit family.

If only that had happened historically!

Oh well.

But yes, a gorgeous display of some fine metal.

Joekano,

There is usually a game every Friday. However, it is not always WAB. Our group will try just about any gaming system. Right now we are doing a lot of colonial, great war and VSF gaming. However, if you wanted to play WAB specifically, you could email me at

Hope to see you some time…

Thanks for the info Operon. I'm not often up in Sac on a Friday, but I'll drop you a line if I can make it up one night .
