Check out the Castings group at Yahoo. These guys often have stuff for sale, and frequently recommend places to buy new/used equipment.

Just go to groups.yahoo.com and search for Castings.

Best of luck.

PS: There is a lot of chatter on this group, so you might consider subscribing to the Daily Digest. This lumps all the day's e-mails into one big post, rather than flooding your mailbox with a ton of mail every day.

Just out of interest, what would the vacuum chamber be used for?

Bunkermeister23 Feb 2009 9:38 p.m. PST

A vacuum chamber is used to remove the air bubbles from either the rubber mold or the resin model while it is curing. The resin is mixed, poured in the mold and the mold is put into the vacuum chamber. The air pressure is lowered inside the chamber and the air inside the resin will be pulled out of the resin. The model will be harder, more solid and not have those nasty air bubbles that diminish detail. The same can be done to the rubber used to make the mold. Makes the mold stronger.
