A Good-Looking Army in a Reasonable Amount of Time

Painting a wargaming army is a completely different beast from painting a single miniature for display.

A friend wound up with about several hundred issues of "Civil War Times" magazines beginning from the 1960's or so. It appears that this is a continuous run of at least 20 years' worth of issues. (Was CWT a monthly at one time?)

He's not able to keep the magazines due to space considerations and he'd rather cut these loose as one lot (with their binders) if possible, but neither he nor I know whether there's a demand.

Thanks,

Wyatt

Yes it was a monthly, then bi-monthly. They also had special editions for each of the key battlefields. Many of the CWT can be used to produce scenarios for different tactical levels and specify key objectives as well.

There's quite a demand for them. Has he tried putting up the whole lot on ebay?

I'd be interested in the whole lot but at present, my current finances don't permit me to invest what the asking price would be nor what he could get for them on ebay.

I have no idea what the value would be, but I would be interested at the right price. If he has a number in mind, I would be willing to entertain it, if not, Ebay is probablly the best option…

Since he doesn't have internet, I'm likely to be the one putting it up on e-bay. I know what he thinks he'd like for it, but I have no idea if it's reasonable.

For all I know, these could be worth $1 USD an issue just as easily as being worth 1¢ an issue.

I have a complete run from 1964 through 2004 when I stopped subscribing. Very useful information, and this mag sparked my interest in the Civil War.

I have seen back issues at old book stores for 50 cents to a buck apiece, more for the special theme issues.

Yea I quit all four about three years ago. CWTI, North & South, and Blue & Gray, and America's Civil War. Just too much repeat information although I will pick up an issue here and there.

About ten years ago I tried to sell a large quantity of them at the HMGS conventions. I had a hard time getting $1 USD each. The more "sophisticated" ACW gamers turned their noses up at them. Too simple, not enough analysis, blah blah. I personally thought they were rather nice.
