I recently purchased Sweet Aviaion Models' 1/144 decal sheet for the carrier Akagi's Zero Fighter Group at Pearl Harbor. Decals are provided to fully mark up to three of the Akagi's twenty-one A6M2's. I applied these decals to three Minicraft Zero kits. These decals are of very high quality. My paint job is simple and basic, it's the decals that really set the models off. picture picture picture The models are marked as the Command Section of the first fighter wave from the carrier Akagi at Pearl Harbor. The command aircraft, number 155, was flown by LtCdr Shigeru Itaya. The second aircraft of the section, number 154, was flown by Takashi Hirano; this plane was shot down during the battle. It crashed into the Fort Kamehameha ordnance building, killing the pilot and three soldiers on the ground. |

Nice. I like the Sweet models as well. I like the kits but like you say, it's a real bonus that there are so many extra quality decals that can be used on other projects. |

Yes, the Sweet kits are very nice. I'm currently building some of their FM-2 Wildcats. Having a little trouble assembling them with the landing gear retracted. |

Nice job svsavory. But your models always look good. Now I see that I have to try and find some 1/144 scale WW2 kits. But I do not have your modeling ability, do I lose points in a game if my wildcats look like crap.

I had trouble with a retracted gear as well. I ended up leaving all of the entrails out, filing the wheel well a bit, stuffing some green stuff in the fuselage, and then pressing the wheels into the green stuff in the wheel wells. |

Thanks, 94th. Bring on your Wildcats! It doesn't matter what they look like, they'll explode just the same. Thanks for the tip, miscmini. I assembled one by letting the cement soften the wheel wells enough to just push the wheels into place. I then trimmed the flaps to cover the openings, but I didn't acheive a very good fit. I may give some green stuff a try. |

They look good, but don't be afraid to take a close-in picture, so we can check out the paint job better

and in their first action, Scott's Wildcat's crush the Me109's that OVI94 and me were using. Those things pack a wallop! The pictures don't do them justice – those Wildcats are absolutely gorgeous models. |
