We tried a four-player game of Hordes of the Things last night. Dwarves and Elves and assorted other allies versus Orcs and Goblins and Naughty Humans. Much Chaos ensued!

A battle report with loads of pictures can e found on my blog:

With two armies per side, what rules did you use when an army broke? I'm guessing that you have to pay a pip per group to keep it on table, but do you then need a second pip if it is going to do something?

There are Mass Battle rules in the current edition of Hordes of the Things. Teh army is divided into commands of ~24AP each. When a command breaks (loses half it's AP value of or it's general) Then you need to pay a pip to hold a group or move an individual stand. The command rapidly disintegrates. The army loses when half it's combined AP is gone.

I really need to get the 2nd edition: I'll look for it at the shows as they come up.

I'd just like to say that your blog has sparked my interest in HOTT. I dont have that ruleset but your Batreps have made me interested in reading more about the game. Plus, being able to game with one's wife rocks!
