Hello Everyone,

A blast from a lot of our pasts!

A 1/32, 3" Mortar team from the old Airfix 'Infantry Support Group' for my Coldstream Guards 'Crossfire' Batallion. Although a little on the large side, (the rest of the boys being 1/35), I thought as these will be operating on their own, I'd get away with it!

They painted up very easily, and are surprisingly nice mouldings!

The Vickers teams are next, and I have another coupla Mortars, which may well get converted into big, hairy, 4.2" Bleeped texts, to go with the Vickers teams in the independent MG and Mortar Company.

Warm your hearts, and harken back to a simpler time!

John

Nice, where did you get them from?

You've done a first rate job with those. Very nice.

Great to see! As I understand it, these are back in production. Look for them on the Michigan Toy Soldier site.

Very nice! I still game with Army Men, but I gave up on painting them, as the paint flakes off after 10 years. That, and I have thousands of them which I would need to paint!

I do, however, base mine, individually, on 2-inch squares of MDF, adding texture and color. Played a huge game on a 12-foot by 30-foot table, last year. Planning on setting up a city battle this Summer, on the same sized table. Gaming with 1/32-1/35 figures, is a blast. It is a childhood fantasy come true. Cheers!

All the best people have extensive collections in 54mm don't they? We've started a FB page '1/32 Wargames just so we have a place to post pics of ours….much of which came from ByJohn54 in the first place.

By John 54,
That mortar team is from the Guards. It therefore stands to reason that the figures would be bigger than mere line infantry.

Along with the DAK, one of my favourite sets.
The ammo boxes, scratch made?
