I just bought a 1/144 scale Gotha G IV bomber and an AEG G IV bomber from Skytrex for use with my Wings of War. But I can't find any WoW maneuver cards or description cards for these two aircraft. Does anyone know if WoW or some third party has put something together so I can play these two fine models? I know where there's a group of Tommies in Flanders drinking their poor excuse for beer and I'd like to "drop in" on them.
Thanks.

A new Wings of War game "Flight of the Giants" is due out in August it will introduce early bombers and require any other box in order to play.It should include Zeppelin Staaken, AEG G.II, Friedrichshafen G.III and Gotha G.V for Germans, Caproni Ca.3 in Italian and French colors, Handley Page 0/400 for British, and the Russian Ilya Mourometz. The German AGO C.I is under scrutiny.

All we need now is for someone to make the Staaken in 1/144. My brother drew up some plans to scratchbuild one once but never got round to it. It's huuuge.

Thanks, Burt. And welcome to TMP. The TMP site supervisor may not have told you, but all new British TMP members are required to put me up for 2-3 weeks when I visit the British isles and let me play with their stuff.

Hi Martin,
Havn't seen you for a while, will probably see you at some local shows, maybe for a WOW game.

Hi mosby65,
good idea but my wife hasn't got a good impression of wargamers and want's to keep them at arms length or further.

I understand. My wife won't let my wargaming friends in the main part of my house. Something about scruffy, loud, obnoxious…

Cool plane. Already fudged a game with a flight of these.

I'm sure you've thought of this, but one option is to run a game where the bombers simply fly straight across the table, trying to exit the other side in order to execute their mission. The players control enemy planes trying to shoot down the bombers and friendly planes trying to protect them. The friendly players or the GM control defensive fire from the bombers.

Good idea. From another source I was advised I could make my own maneuver pack with just three cards; shallow left turn, shallow right turn, and straight. These beasts weren't capable of much else.

If so, then they have no excuse not to issue the Caudron R11 'gunship," which means I'll have yet another way to blow up Larry every couple of weeks… evil grin

P.S. Beware the Ago pusher! It is a deadly piece of German aerial technology… right up their with the Breguet-Michelin bomber…. evil grin

Personally, I'm holding out for a *Zeppelin* card myself…. evil grin

We have used our GIVs and they are tough but not unbeatable.

Saw a nice Zeppelin Staaken R-VI bomber being used in a WOW game last month.

Old Slow Trot

I saw one at Little Wars earlier this month. Wish I had spoken to the GM to see if he had scratch-built it or bought it.

If your going to use the Gotha or other bombers like that make sure you have BIG HEXS to fly them in. Those things take up a lot of space in 1/144.
Something my group did for the Gotha's we used was to use shorter flight pegs so the other planes can fly around the darn things.

Any good source to purchase these miniatures?

Gabriel Landowski Fezian20 Sep 2010 8:45 p.m. PST

Never mind, did a scratch build of three Gotha IVs.
