Hello,

I understand that the Desert Combat Uniform is being phased out in favor of the ACU.

Is it now uncommon to see first line troops in DCU? What would you say is the proportion of DCU/ACU?

Many thanks to the people actually seeing this and could answer (double meaning thanks of course)

No US Army folks are deploying with DCUs, they all get ACUs. I do not think any Active units wear anything but ACUs even while CONUS.

NG units may still have BDUs or DCUs while in CONUS, but it is becoming more rare. They do draw ACUs for deployments and I am pretty sure most have them CONUS as well by now.

When my National Guard unit left Iraq in late '05 we were in DCUs, but the incoming troops had ACUs. Soon after we got home we were issued ACUs and have been in them since. It would be unlikely for any Army units to be wearing something else.

I haven't seen Army folks in DCUs or BDUs in at least a year. However, they are still in use with the Navy and a lot of Air Force personnel in my area still wear them.
