Hi
I'm after figures to go with my Platoon20 British and Germans.
Any recommendations , hopefully buying at Salute

For the French one has a choice of FAA, SHQ or the Blitz Miniatures. I think that the Blitz or FAA figures are the best. There is also Fantassin/Warmodelling that does a French 1940 line.

As for Belgians the following companies do the 1940 Belgians: SHQ, Axal Miniatures and FAA. The Axal Miniatures are quite good but it is currently limited to just a pack of 8 infantry figures. The FAA and SHQ ranges are much large.

I second the FAA line. Great figures, wide variety. I also mixed in some of the Blitz figures.

If buying at Salute, head to SHQ, they have some lovely French.

Tally Ho!

Actually I think that FAA and Blitz's French are better figures.

Toms tins have a range of French infantry and cavalry. They have just relased a range of Belgian infantry, and some heavy weapons also some artillery. Unfortunatly I have never seen him at Salute. He is not on the web either, but you can the write or phone him at this address

I second the Blitz French: they are superb! If you need command posts, too, their radio sets (BFI 6) are awesome, and not reproduced anywhere else as far as I know. At the level I play (1 stand= bn), higher level HQs are required, and few ranges have suitable figures.

Vive la France! (et la Belgique!)

As a PS: my own (very old) Platoon 20 figures are very much on the small side of 20mm, so maybe SHQ would be best for you. They seem to run on the small side as well. They also have some nice artillery crews, which sadly Blitz does not (yet, anyway…) That said, I find the SHQ and Blitz are close enough to each other to mix, but Blitz and my old Platoon 20s vary: some of the old PT 20 are just too darned small, while others are ok. I don't know about the newer remastered figures. Bonne chance!

Richard,
I second Yakman's recommendation of Tom's Tins. I have ordered from him three times and never been disappointed. His service is about three weeks to me in Southern California. I have sent him cash [I bought pounds at the local currency exchange]. I have always found him to be honest and quick. He does SOme France 40 British, a lot of French, some Belgians, and some Dutch.
Natokina.

Tom's Tins are very good. I also have the Raventhorpe and Fantassin French and mix all these 3. Haven't got the Blitz French yet but they look good too judging from pictures.

To add to what others have said, Caesar has just released WWII French in plastic and they're quite nice. They've also got a early war Dutch and Belgian set planned, but there's no definate word when it will be released.
