Near-future weapons sprue added to WF to flesh out your conversions and zombie fighters!

I am getting so sick of this company and what people want to be made. Maybe if the actually made something it would be Ok, but so far they have a box of Romans and a half a box of British soldiers. Frackin make something that people suggest. I'd like a spru of Rubber duckies; I'd like a spru of Zombies taking a dump… good God

Nothing against you, Uesugi Kenshin

bandit8608 Feb 2009 10:58 p.m. PST

BTW check out Hasslefree they have some weapons that might be what you are looking for.

Bill Peterson08 Feb 2009 11:17 p.m. PST

Bandit, I'm curious as to what your expectation was of the Wargames Factory British. You said 1/2 a box. The box was Zulu War British Firing Line with 20 figures in it with firing, loading, advancing, etc poses. What else did you want in that pack?

bandit8609 Feb 2009 2:10 a.m. PST

I was just going on the 40 or so Roman in a box thats all

Reading through the list of suggestions on WF's site, it appears there are a lot of optimists about. Some of the suggestions are as likely to come to fruition, as I am to win the lottery.

AndrewGPaul09 Feb 2009 2:32 a.m. PST

Bandit, how is other people's suggestions WF's fault? After all, they won't be making any if no-one else wants them. if anything, you should be holding it against Uesugi Kenshin,; it's more his fault than theirs. grin

Griefbringer09 Feb 2009 3:50 a.m. PST

This should be hardly a surprise for anyone reading TMP boards.

There seems to be a noticeable (or at least noisy) part of the public that models representing topic X would sell like hot bacon-cakes if some manufacturer just would bother doing them in the first place.

Ahem. grin On topic, I saw Reaper's Futuristic weaposn pack for Chronoscope this week-end. I actually made use of a LGS! You might check Reaper's weapon packs out.

Not sure what your idea of futuristic is…

WooHoo!! Having won the lottery 98 times since it started ( yes I am that sad as to keep count!) I'm really looking forward to some weird & wonderful releases.

BTW none of my wins have been over £100.00 GBP frown

Greylegion09 Feb 2009 8:47 a.m. PST

I picked up 6 packs of the Reaper/Chronoscope weapons last Friday. Pretty nice sets. Also there is a new company trying to put a game together, Ground Pounder (33mm). They also have a weapons set planned. You can the the computer versions in the "News" section. If those weaopns come to be (they look awsome), I'll be ordering them by the dozens.

Very impressive, PaleWarrior, what is your secret with the Lottery?

I, on the other hand, have NEVER won the Lottery.

Bandit86,

Only a few hundreds (thousands? It must be some finite number wink) more of these and all possible combinations not covered by current companies will have been addressed. evil grin

Do they use ray-guns?

To the in-production Reaper weapons packs, add the following multitude of packs from Hasslefree:
link

You will find futuristic, modern-day and even weapons to fight zombies (chain saws, hockey sticks, cricket bats, and the like).

If you simply must have plastic weapons however, try the Battlewagon Bitz section of The War Store. All those GW weapons are available:

Just pick a faction and drill down into the lists.

Like bandit86, I'm getting rather tired of all the suggestions for sprues as well. I'll bet not one in 100 earn enough votes to make it into production. However, I would rather have this company around than not, because they may eventually make something I do want.

So suggest away!

Kilkrazy10 Feb 2009 1:45 p.m. PST

What is the company that will make a figure in metal if they get 100 pre-orders?

Isn't that a better bet than trying to get enough possible interest to possibly justify making a polystyrene weapon sprue?

Palewarrior10 Feb 2009 1:52 p.m. PST

If I had secret lottery winning technique, my user name would be Healthytannedwarrior!

sorry went off the topic there.

Actually from the Eureka web site:

Custom Miniatures Custom Miniatures
100 Club 300 Club Submit request
About the 100 and 300 Clubs

The 100 Club and 300 Club are concepts that allows a degree of interactivity to the wargames hobby.

We all have figures in mind that we have wanted to see produced, but no manufacturer has deemed worthy of making. Now Eureka Miniatures puts you in the driving seat.

Working on the premise that you are not alone in wanting that special figure that no one makes, Eureka Miniatures have set up the 100 Club (25/28mm) and 300 Club (15mm) to record and accumulate the requests for custom miniatures and hopefully turn them into economically viable projects.

The figures we produce are first class. Our designers will interpret your requests and will make a minimum of four variants of the figure you requested. However, Eureka Miniatures reserves the right to make only one of a personality.

We ask you to provide your credit card details to show that you are serious in your intent. Charges to your card will only apply after you confirm your order with us ie. when we reach the required number, and will be made after the figures have been produced and despatched to you. All credit card details are retained with your personal security in mind.
How does it work?

In order to work, the Club needs your input and support.

Tell us the figure you want us to make, provide us with the best concise description you can – pictures most welcome – and then tell us how many you would be willing to purchase.

When this request has been processed it will added to the Club.
Visitors to the web site will then be able to register the number of figures they are willing to purchase.

As soon as the total number of figures requested reaches 150 for the 100 Club and 600 for the 300 Club (the number Eureka needs to break even), and at least ten (10) customers have registered interest, each person who has made an order will be contacted by e-mail to confirm the order is still required.

Once the confirmations have been received, the figure will then be added to our In Production schedule.

Warbeads10 Feb 2009 3:13 p.m. PST

So, due to economic realities/inflation it's:

1. 10 different people.

2. 150 figures ordered.

Gracias,

Glenn

Warbeads11 Feb 2009 5:44 a.m. PST

Do hasslefree's CAD gun variants come in packs or do you buy them in singletons?

If packs how many per pack? Mixed or one kind per sprue?

Gracias,

Glenn

Edit the post post…posting.

Found this:

Pack containing a sprue of 4 guns.

I am assuming four of the same.

alien BLOODY HELL surfer11 Feb 2009 8:19 a.m. PST

Wonder if Eureka would do it anyway if say one asked for figure X (in the four variants mentioned) and placed a 600 figure order themselves?

Warbeads11 Feb 2009 8:54 a.m. PST

Might cost more because it's a one time deal (no profits from re-sells.) I think they address that on their web site.

Gracias,

Glenn

My sprue will be considerably bigger than the Reaper or Hasslefree sprues…but to each his own!

smokingwreckage11 Feb 2009 6:00 p.m. PST

link more weapons sprues here!

Uesugi Kenshin Supporting Member of TMP11 Feb 2009 8:18 p.m. PST

And WAY bigger than those! Lol.

tnjrp11 Feb 2009 11:50 p.m. PST

It may or may not be a good thing to have a large (and probably fairly expensive) sprue, of course. It's very much a balancing act of how many of a single type and how many of different types people will want. While this suggestion is obviously aimed to capturing money from the 2nd largest niche of the niche market (after GW gothic -- or "how many skulls are there going to be on these then, per weapon?"), the lack of a single "unifying look" of science fiction is still a bit of a bother.

Uesugi Kenshin Supporting Member of TMP12 Feb 2009 2:01 p.m. PST

Most WF sprues are going for $5. USD

tnjrp13 Feb 2009 1:01 a.m. PST

The only one I could find at their shop where # of sprues was listed were the Brits and it looks to actually be about $3.74 USD per sprue. Not that you can get one at a time ATM.

But let's assume the gun sprue would go for a fiver, which I admit is rather cheap (depending how many guns you get obviously, but presumably quite a few more than you can get for a fiver in metal). Personally, if say half of it is stuff I don't much care for I probably still won't order any.

Mileages vary in this regard, obviously.

10% pre-ordered. Thanks for the support!

I dunno….
Like Bandit, I too am getting kinda tired of the "Pre-order/Vote for my stuff on WF, Wheeee!" posts here. If I'm intertested in what's there, I'd already be there.
Let's face it, a lot of the stuff that's being asked for is either a blantant IP violation, already being made by somebody else, or incredibly niche.

On Topic- Add Dream Pod 9 Blitz Weapon packs to the list:

Uesugi Kenshin Supporting Member of TMP16 Apr 2009 4:22 a.m. PST

If it was an IP violation, WF wouldnt have posted it.

Re: the metal Dream Pod weapons, my sprue will contain approximately the same number of weapons for $5…not the $19 USD they are asking.

Also, there wont be any wasted space (ie. "6 old style Hunter heads, 3 old style Jaguar heads,3 old style Cheetah heads) that you have to purchase just to get the few guns you want.

As to your point about no one at TMP beimg interested in them, 1 of my suggestions on WF went from 4% ordered to 34% ordered after I left a posting about it in a TMP forum.

But you are more than welcomed to decline them Mike.

Cheers.

chironex16 Apr 2009 7:48 p.m. PST

Why is there a perceived issue with the company when practically EVERY company with an attached forum takes suggestions? The four companies of the Forum of Doom do it, and every other day someone posts up an IP violation, common item or sheer drug dream. It's only WF that is being held responsible for the incessant demands for cheaper space marines and for xenomorphs to be put back on the market.
Here the people decide. As Andrew Denton once said when he still had a show on channel 7 around the time of the French nuclear weapons tests in the Pacific, after the French got miffed about a truckload of manure being dumped at the French Embassy insisting they need not suffer for their governments actions, "you voted for them!"
I wonder how many times in history that has happened…
See you, I'm off to suggest some modern Australian troops.

Lee Brilleaux Fezian16 Apr 2009 9:13 p.m. PST

Howard from Wargames Factory here.

I'm the one – lately – who has been sorting through submissions from the public (from all continents except Antarctica, it seems). While historical subjects are basically, "French infantry, 1870" and the like I do get people referring to other companies' figures, as in "See Terry's Toys web site" or "To match Fred's Figures". I take those references out. We aren't trying to steal Terry's or Fred's business, and – very likely – we know Terry and Fred personally.

But an 1870 Frenchman is just that.

For fantasy and Sci Fi submissions there is often an element of popular culture to explaining the suggestion. It's hard to discuss post-apocalyptic stuff without mentioning Mad Max or Bladerunner. Those are almost the touchstones of the genre. But that's waaayyy different to saying, "Make the cast of Mad Max, and call them something else."

Which – although others may have done so – we are not about to do.

Just a wild guess, but maybe some people don't take an instant liking to these threads specifically because this is not the Wargames Factory forum but rather a more public type of venue.

But to try to at least get this one discussion at least back on its tracks…

Is there any idea yet as to what type of guns/weapons and how many each would we be looking at on this particular sprue?

Uesugi Kenshin Supporting Member of TMP17 Apr 2009 3:20 a.m. PST

Good question. The ultimate say/ decission will be up to WF but the votes for favorites have been coming in in the forum. Check here for sample pics/ and lots of good suggestion:

The suggestions for how many can fit on 1 sprue are on page 3 of the forum. The current sprue cost is estimated at $5 USD each for 25-30 weapons.

I think they are actually 100% ordered Terr!

Uesugi Kenshin Supporting Member of TMP26 Oct 2009 6:46 p.m. PST

Check out the link you posted JJ, shows "100% pre-ordered". Its about 1 of 5 that have crossed the finish line and are awaiting renders. Those should be fun figures. They will make a nice compliment to the Zombie and Great Coated Trooper lines.

Hopefully people will need Near-Future guns to arm their "armed" civilians with ;-)
