One of the Courcelle Waterloo books has an account which suggests that at least some of them were in the sky blue jacket. I sat on the fence and did one regt in white and one in blue. Looks pretty too! |

I notice that the white metal band with the "N" is missing. Is it possible that this sky blue uniform was only work at Waterloo? Does anyone know is it was worn prior to his abdication with the fall of Paris? GdeP |

The blue uniform was in use in Russia and during the 1813 and 1814 campaigns. The "N" is missing because they were removed during the first restoration and there was not enough time to replace them during "les cent jours". |

This should answer all your questions, and a bit more: TMP link It appears that not only did they wear the blue habite, but not all of them had cuirasses either. Some pics of the Carabiniers in the blue uniform (2nd, 3rd and 4th links) – the habite appears to be a bit darker than in the "Cent Jours" plates:- TMP link (Once again, a big thank you to those who contributed to the first link.) |
