Thunderbolt Mountain's New Wood Elf Champion

In this ambitious article, R Strickland paints the Wood Elf Champion, then the mounted version of the same figure, and lastly, makes a scenic display for them both!

Yes. One more zombie thread.

Anyway, I figured that my Victorian adventurers could find themselves in a zombie town in Africa, Haiti or somewhere else in the Caribbean.

I seem to remember someone (or maybe more than one manufacturer) that made Haitian/Caribbean zombies.

QUESTION:

Does anyone remember who made them?

Thanks.

West Wind's Gothic Horror Zombies line: link

Baron Savoodie is a very cool sculpt.

Sorry. I made a typo in the title of this thread (spelled "Hatian" instead of "Haitian").

Does anyone know how to change the title with the edit function, or is that not possible?

Thanks.

Wow. I hadn't seen those Westwind ones, ever. Fantastic figures!

I'm definitely putting them on my list.

Thanks so much.

Between the Westwind ones and those, that gives me lots to start with.

I don't see pictures here on the OG site, but these might be the same as the Westwind ones, right?

Depending on how much suspension of disbelief you want, you might be able to use the Ju-Ju Men from Graven Images' 40mm Disturbia line as some kind of magically oversized zombies.

Even if not, it's a cool idea and something you might be able to copy in 28mm with a little conversion work.

Brigade's range is very nice. It shows to distinct sculpting styles. I would like to know who did the Hatian civilians. Lon?

HG Walls25 Jan 2009 11:32 a.m. PST

I'm not absolutely positive, but I believe that the Brigade Games Caribbean Empires Haitian Civilians were sculpted by Faron Betchley.

jpattern225 Jan 2009 12:25 p.m. PST

Yes, the OG and West Wind sculpts are the same.

Cacique Caribe25 Jan 2009 12:45 p.m. PST

Excellent! Thanks.

Eureka makes Zombie Master that looks very Carribean. He's part of their pirates line.

There's also the zombie pirates

Jeff Valent has a Houngan from the Deadlands lineup

Also from that line are the Feral Dead and Deadbeat Band

I don't think anyone else mentioned them (sorry if I missed it), but OG has a set of voodoo zombies in their Pirates line. Admittedly not smaller than heroic 28s, but still pretty decent figures.

Scantily clad (and thus 'generic') zombies:
-from Gary Hunt:

also a 'spirit dancer' to control them (with two quasi-zardoziesque 'madmen' -maybe not undead, but rather Carribean:

-from Mirliton (in an advanced state of decay):

Legion 4: what do you expect from the title? I seriously don't get why ppl post gak like "what's up with ppl being into zombies…" in a post about zombies. Really kind of lame.

Then I'm lame … ;-) But I'm not a Zombie !! LOL !!! 8-D It was sort of a "Tongue in cheek" kinda of comment … a bit of joking … get it !! ;-) And just cause Zombies ain't my cup of Kool Aid, don't mean noth'n …always do what works for you … not me … thumbs up

I have the Brigade Games pack and they are very nice!

Many zombies are in (torn but recognizable) rather 'modern' clothes. And why limit yourself to Pulp or Victorian times?
For instance all games normally associated with Victorian times: VSF as well as Colonial- can be set during the WAS-SYW (the 1st world wars, btw). Only a few 'undead pirates' are available for this era.
And there are already a few attempts:

Then 18th c. short breeches can be as good, if not better,'VSF Haitian-Caribbean' as / than 'Pulp' ones in long trousers.

Thus this thread is interesting:

No crap I was in Haiti during the pre U.S. intervention. Driving up to Hotel one night from the Embassy we ran in to a demonstration coming down the main highway. There was no power in the city and only a few lights from places with a generator. It looked like a heat wave on a Texas highway. We did not know what it was until we got to with a block. I turned around the Suburban and we spent the night back at the Embassy. I will never have to wonder what groups of zombies at night would look like in real life again! Much Rhum was consumed that night.

So a happy ending after all.
