Olive drab, of course, like pretty much everything else.

Don't forget that miniature color will vary with your scale…

Being a Marine vehicle, they would be overall Forest Green rather than Olive Drab.

Yep, forest green, AKA USMC or Marine Green. During this period the Marines, used a semi gloss and lusterless shades of forest green. I THINK, the semi gloss was used on the LVTP 5.

Hmmm, the one I remember seeing in color, in Vietnam, appeared to be olive drab, but maybe my memory is failing. I believe it was in a National Geographic article on the war.

That was 30+ years ago when I saw the pic.

Here's the color of one being stored in a field, at a museum:

The color is quite light – probably due to fading over time in the sun.

Top gun.

The trac in that pic has been painted merely as a means of preservation rather than as an attempt to match correct color. Did you notice that EVERYTHING is painted the same color, even the rubber wheels and tracks? The pic shown by vaughan is the real deal.

Vaughan's pic would be consistent with the color that regulations called for in the mid 1960s…Yards & Docks #23 (USMC Green).

Federal Standard 595 system is not the only source of colors for the military. The USAF was well served by the system, but ground forces often maintained their own standards as well. 14052, 24052, & 34052 were indeed created in 1956 as 'Marine Corps Green'…but the Corps also had their own color which was more of an olive green as shown in Vaughan's pic, and went back & forth for what they wanted. This was also known as Yards & Docks #23, and was last in the federal system in 1950 as color 1415.

If you have the current 1996 BSI381c colors, the #224 Deep Bronze Green is a very close equivalent. If you have the RAL deck, look at semigloss 6007 Flaschengrün.
