Just got an e-mail announcing that our local two-store chain FLGS is curtailing hours. They were open 10 – 10 every day except Christmas now they're opening later and closing earlier as their sales showed those hours were least sales productive. Another store has also reportedly scaled back operations.

Anybody else seeing this sort of action? I'm glad its scaleback versus closure but it's still unfortunate. Will keep plugging my coin back into local stores in hopes that my little bit joins with others' contributions to keep the ship afloat.

You'll be lucky if that's the end of it. None of the FLGS owners I know are optimistic.

Optimistic? I don't think I've ever met an optimistic game store owner, most of the one's I've met seem to be rather bitter. could be just me. Our local store extended its hours later into the evening, but I think that has to do with the new strip mall that they moved into.

I don't think ours opens until 11, and I don't think they stay open until 10pm except on weekends when there are clubs holding games. I'm surprised shops get any traffic on weekdays before noon, as most customers are going to be at work or in school.

My FL Miniature GS (as opposed to my FLRPGSs) is open from 10 or 12 am (during the weekend) until 9 pm.

They seem to be doing rather fine.

Makes sense, if you aren't generating the sales to cover the hourly expenses for your staff.

The alternative is going belly up.

Privateer4hire – would that be the company with stores in Chantilly and Woodbridge?

I think it would.

What are those new hours? I checked the web site but it has not been updated.

Thanks.

The stores' new hours are being discussed on the NOVAGlist by someone who says they're talking with the owner. I don't have any more information than that the stores will allegedly be closing earlier.

Wow. I helped unpack boxes when the Chantilly store first opened around 19 years ago. Well I hope htat the weekend evening hours stay the same. But I can understand if they do not.
