I like what I see. You have a gift. |

I really like the second paint job on the Imperial Noble. The skin tone is really nice and the color choice is very good. You state that you prefer the blending technique over all – was the first painting of the Imperial Noble done with the traditional wash and dry brush method? I'd like to see the two pictures side by side. Really nice work. Matthew |

I dug it. I could dig some more if you'll show me where. |

Actually, the noble is the original paint job. A friend dropped it accidentally while looking at it and I had to retouch the chipped spots. So there really isn't a before & after. The after is without damage. Condotta, did you scroll down? |

I did paint two different versions of this mini. So here's the first one in purple. The one I had to touch up was the second version in natural tones. picture |

Faust23 Yes, it is this one in purple that I thought you re-painted since the style looks different. I do like the second version a lot more. Did you use different paint brands, styles. How many layers of the flesh tones are you doing? Thanks. Matthew |

Matthew, I had a different painting philosophy by the time I painted the second noble. The first one I didn't spend as much time on, and I was on a purple kick. I switched some paint brands around too on the second one, but the flesh process remained the same, I just took a lot more time on the second fig. The browns were mostly Testors Acryl line of acrylics. They had a Burnt Sienna that I used on the cloak, I think. The flesh was Ral Partha Amerindian glazed with Reaper Flesh Shade Ink, then worked up with numerous thin layers of caucasian flesh. |

Thanks for the info. I'm trying out different brands of paints trying to find ones that work the best for me as my style of painting changes with every new project. I read and experiment as much as I can. While I have never mastered the eyes on the face, the shading of the flesh tones has made up for it on the game table. I can't see the eyes on a 28mm figure that's on a game table anyway. Thanks again. Matthew |
