How does the new Helion & Company Prussian troops compare size-wize with Foundry Franco-Prussian War figures? thanks

PK Inc05 Jan 2009 7:41 p.m. PST

I'm going from memory from the packs I saw at Historicon, but I believe the Helion figures are noticeably larger. Beautiful, but larger. I wouldn't hesitate to use them on the same table though.

Not in the same units, but I have units from both. The Foundry figures are nice but poses are limited. The Helion are larger, and lovely figures with a more "individual" feel and more detail. Also have a look at the Baker Company 1866 Prussians. Most of my units are Foundry and Baker company although Helion are catching up. Their Uhlans are superb.

I would agree with Nick, my mate has painted 3 units of the Prussians by Helion, I have a few hundred painted Foundry Prussians and they are considerably smaller. If I was starting again I would use the Helion figures, although would have to do 1866 rather than 1870 as do not believe he is going to do French and still waiting for Austrians.

All the best,

Mark.

Mark, both the Baker Co and Helion are 1866 ranges so no French in the offing. My French are Castaway and Foundry. However I do not believe there is any difference in the Prussian uniform.

The helmet was slightly different but many older helmets were used in 1870. The collar was different in 1866-red patches instead of all red but otherwise it was the same.I use my 1870 Prussians for 1866. I suppose to be accurate I could make some tiny blue collars to attach for 1866 games.

I had heard, or read some where, that Crusader Miniatures we're going to do some 1870 French in their "Rank and File" range?

But at least we should get Italians for 1866 from Helion, eventually and poss German Minor states again for 1866(?).

Hi,
Helion fit well with Baker Company size wise but are MUCH bigger than the Foundry figures. Foundry fit well with Castaway, Eureka & Battle Honours (also Mirliton-but they are in a different style). However because the Helions are such fantastic figures I have decided to do the FPW using Foundry & 1866 using Helions seperately.
