Hi everyone, i have some of the nice victrix british infantry plastics and I was looking to get some cavalry and guns to go with them. Can anyone here who has both Victrix and front rank figures comment on how comatible the two sculpting styles are? Thanks, Rob Kenny |

I find the Victrix (and Perry) Napoleonics to be more anatomically correct. This makes the Front Rank figures look out of porportion. I think the sculpting style is very different between the two. I don't mix them and the few Front Rank figures I do have I am getting rid of. That said though, humans come in lots of sizes. |

If you want a good match to Victrix or Perry plastics then I think Perry metals are about your only choice but they dont do a British range yet. As gamesneto says FrontRank whilst being of a similar height are much bigger in bulk than the plastics and dont match so well. Conversely Foundry are a lot shorter but match in bulk. My feeling is that visually Foundry are a better match when placed on the table because bulk seem more significant, though in single figures side by side on the workbench FrontRank are a better match because the height seems more significant. Its a dilemma and I don't really know what the correct answer is. I can understand Perry making their plastics to match their own range but I dont really undestand why Victrix didn't make the plastics either match Foundry or FrontRank. |

Victrix & Front Rank look virtually the same size in that pic. |

Thats the problem with those type of pics
If you actually see the figures for real they are about the same height but significantly different in "bulk". To be honest at the end of the day your are best to do the comparison yourself with the actual figures rather rely on pics on the web.. |

I think Front Rank, Foundry, Perrys, and Eagle would all look fine mixed in with Victrix. It's all a question of personal preference. To me, massed units of figures all exactly the same height and build looks way more unrealistic than mixing manufacturers. Heights in British Infantry regiments at Waterloo ranged from 4 foot 6 (!) to 6 foot 2. As Gamesnesto said, people come in all shapes and sizes. |

I've not tried Perry stuff yet -- but I think all six of those ranges look OK next to each other. Particularly for skirmishing stuff. In general I tend to go by equipment first and then as long as build and height variance is within human norms, they'll be OK. The "bulk" differences with Victrix I think are really in the finer details -- the fingers and the bayonets, for example, are much more slender, so it might be that my cack-handed painting doesn't show the differences :-) |

I think Essex can often get mixed in there too – at least for units not wearing the Belgic Shako. There's something about the proportions (the peak?) of Essex Beligic shakos, which means they don't look right next to other manufacturers (imho). I still like them though, I just use them for a separate battalion/battery. |

I'm mixing all types of figures gives you the variety being in line really does. |
