Hi all,

I'm trying to paint an entire 6mm 500-point Impetus army within the next couple of days. If you're interested in watchin it happen, here it is:

Nice stuff. I like to see the progression in painting.

Good luck on your project.

Can I ask what might seem an obvious question; which manufacturer did you get the figures from? I am making up a 6mm EIR army for DBMM, using Irregular and H&R, but didn't recognise the minis you are using.

Hmm, just had a hunt around; Baccus?

Look forward to your progress I've recently been tempted by the rapier army deals.

Yep, they're Baccus alright. The other geek involved in the project was a Baccus rep/distributer until quite recently. I had bought the models from him around four(?) years ago to build a Warmaster Ancients army, but it never took off. Luckily, he has a sizeable private collection left over, so he gave me some odds and ends that I needed.

Although I'm not ready for another blog post yet, I have been painting. I've painted one unit of Legionnaires (minus command), and hope to finish them off very soon. Now that I have established my "recipe," I hope to push through the other 5 units of legion before I go to bed tonight.

Good luck :) I'm on with Baccus Republican Romans at the minute.

Glad to hear Stu is alive and kicking; we lost touch after he closed up shop.

Good to hear. Any chance of photos?

Very much alive and kicking as well. In fact, I believe he is basing his Parthians tonight. He's chose to go all cavalry, so an entire army of Cataphracts and Horse Archers.

P.S. I finished the first unit after all, and started painting the other five. However, my wife is out shopping, and I can't go back down to the basement until (a) she comes home or (b) my eight-year old son falls asleep. Bring it on Mr. Sandman.

Nice job Jet, a question why is there a large gap in the the middle of the unit? I thought you might have left a gap at the edges but not the middle.

I'm actually trying (successfully or otherwise;) ) to create the general shape and look of centuries advancing the field.

In Impetus, the larger scales (15 and 28) have distinct base sizes to differentiate light foot and heavy foot. At smaller scales, one could choose to have 3cm depth for light and 2cm for heavy. At this scale, I don't want to go as small as 2cm (except for skirmishers). I needed a way to tell the difference between the legion and the auxilia (light) at a glance, and Stu and I thought the actual formation would be a neat way to do that at this scale. So, if you imagine the entire army spread out and ranked up, you will see thinner lines of auxilia (with some empty frontage on the base) and smaller centuries of legion lined up and advancing.

Thanks for the explanation JET, it will be interesting to see how they look lined up when you have finished.

They a looking really good now, you will have to give an example of how you finish of the bases as they look really good.

Finally, another unit painted. After much procrastination (i.e. going back to work after my week off), I've finished a unit of cavalry.
