Seems nicely suited for the smaller battle game, which are fairly rare. And clearly open to several what-ifs for variation.

Quite astonishingly Osprey don't seem to have a book on the Batavian forces of the Cape. So there is an excuse to make up the uniform details (if you go to the extreme of painting up single use troops).

For Your information, the military forces of the Cape Colony consisted of:
- 22nd battalion infantry of 1 grenadier and 8 fusiliercompanies ( for uniform see: link 1st row 5th picture or for later uniform with shako 3rd row 1st picture)
- 5th battalion Waldeck of 1 jäger and 6 fusiliercompanies (for uniform see link 1st row, 6th picture)
- company auxiliary infantry
- battalion Hottentot light infantry of 4 companies
- 9th jäger battalion of 4 companies (the uniform would look like this link although the cuffs, lapels and collar would be in green
- 2 companies of Cape jäger
- 1 squadron 5th regiment dragoons (for uniform see link 1st row 7th+8th picure, 2nd row 1st picture)
- horse artillery of 2 companies
- 5th battalion artillery of 4 companies (these would look like link (3rd row 3rd and 4th picture)
- 2 companies volunteer artillery
- Java light artillery
- militia (burgher infantry and cavalry) which in 1795 consisted of 3 companies of infantry and 5 companies of cavalry. Their uniform is desribed as blue coat with silver, infantry vest and trousers in white, cavalry in yellow. Black bicorn.

Hope this give some more information
