Thanks, I'll have to try your method. I've been trying layers from the bottom up and it just seems to take forever. Your method my help remind me that I'm not painting 28's and get me moving along.

Very nice. You put more detail on than me – shako plates and turnbacks. My defence is that I want to get my 48 fig battalions painted and into action as fast as possible!

Like your terrain as well. Let's see some more!

Nice tutorial.

My 6mm Napoleonic line troops were taking ages then I started cheating.

I base for the Polemos system- so 60mm square bases with 4 ranks of 12 figures.

I undercoat my minis black, base them in their ranks. Dry brush white. Then I paint the fronts of the front rank, the backs of the back rank, and the presenting sides of the soldiers on the flanks. I paint all the hats from above and all the msukets/bayonets, and daub a bit of colour on the figures in the middle- daubed roughly on.

From an arms length away the stand looks as good as those where I have painted every figure individually before basing. Paitning the front rank quite well gives a good illusion that the whole unit is coherently and well painted.

Nice to see some others that are interested in 6mm in Australia…there does seem to be a lack of interest in this scale apart from WW2

Steve W,

I have shipped huge amounts of pre-20thC 6mm to Australia over the last couple of years. I suspect that the problem will be that they will have gone to the wrong part of that very large Continent for you.

Cheers

Maybe so LOL…Now if I could only find out which bit *S*

Sydney, inner west (though Adler, not Baccus in my case).

I've been painting using the guide posted on sixtwentyeight.blogspot.com (not my blog) many months ago. I'm very happy with how they're turning out but god, its taking me ages. How that guy says he can do them in 3 minutes per figure is beyond me…

Excellent work, i'm begining to think mine aren't too bad being Baccus and slightly smaller.
