I just started painting up the figs for my Med. German army and realized that the knights have no shields…

The sculpts are otherwise beautifull, but I wonder if I am missing somethin here. Should some 14th-15th century knights have sheilds? Making small glue-on shields isn't a problem for this scale if some of the figs could have them… My main concern is really for having a surface for painting heraldry, as trying to paint the tunics as cloth with heraldry isn't working as well as I hoped… Any advice from those with more smarts than me?

What period? Shields fell out of use by the mid 15th century.

Thanks John!
the army list is for after 1450, so I guess its back to taberds and pennants…

Once knights (and others) were in full plate they had no use for shields. By the 1450s the only regular use of shields was by foot grunts and the usual suspects from the back of beyond (Ireland and Scotland for example).

Of course, the real question is, where the heck are the middle (high?) period figures? They got early (Normans) and Late (Roses) but nothing in between, despite promising to make 'em. ;(
