Here are some pics of a 28mm Waterloo game that was played on 26-10-08. The action covers the time period (roughly) 14:00–18:00.

Very nice!

And that is exactly why I like Napoleonics.
Stunning.

Beautiful terrain and figures!

However, I still feel that those casualty rings look really silly!

Brent2751104 Jan 2009 8:11 a.m. PST

Very nicely done. Great pictures.

Lord Hill04 Jan 2009 8:22 a.m. PST

Amazing stuff! Truly incredible.

Brits are all Peninsula uniforms though no? :)

yours pedantically

Travellera04 Jan 2009 8:31 a.m. PST

Stunning pictures! How many man years did it take to paint all those troops?

gboue200104 Jan 2009 10:21 a.m. PST

What about the outcome of this wonderful game ?

Trajanus04 Jan 2009 10:26 a.m. PST

Very, Very Nice!

BTW: Who won all the Goldfish and just how many goes did take to throw those little rings over the figures? :o)

Dan Beattie04 Jan 2009 10:40 a.m. PST

Wonderful, especially the scenery and photography.

Wonderful. The Elite miniatures by Pete Morbey are well presented. They are one of my favourite manufacturers. Front Rank and others look great, too.

I kept wanting to reach in and turn that wall on La Haye around grin

Jamesonsafari04 Jan 2009 11:10 a.m. PST

Very stunning. I'm going to send the link to my nephews to keep them inspired. Better than the WW2 game on the same table.

What rules used?

Widowson04 Jan 2009 12:35 p.m. PST

My only correction would be the size of La Haye Sainte. A full size model was used, but according to the ground scale, a much smaller enclosure is more accurate.

The pix are great. Looks like a fine game.

Dan Beattie04 Jan 2009 12:45 p.m. PST

It does seem a bit odd that La Haye Sainte and Hougamont are at 1:1 scale (and gorgeous models they are) while the battalions seem to be 1:20. More evidence that our games are very little like real life battles.

Grizwald04 Jan 2009 2:56 p.m. PST

"It does seem a bit odd that La Haye Sainte and Hougoumont are at 1:1 scale (and gorgeous models they are) while the battalions seem to be 1:20. More evidence that our games are very little like real life battles."

Or that people just don't seem to "get" the difference between figure scale and ground scale.

christot04 Jan 2009 4:41 p.m. PST

Yeah, Joe, tell Rob to get rid of all those figures and get some "real" 6mm ones, then you could have a proper model of Hougemount 3" square. It would be SO MUCH better.

Or perhaps some people just don't get the difference between an average wargame and a TRULY IMPRESSIVE one.

(btw, Joe, on a 6mm note, are you going to Falmouth at the end of the month?)

cheers chris

No criticism from Texas. Truly inspiring. And I thought I was fortunate. Whew, my collection pales. Well done.,

Syrinx004 Jan 2009 7:59 p.m. PST

Very nice layout. I know nothing about Napoleonics so I'm probably failing to be fully impressed by the accuracy of the details but the figures and terrain are beautiful.

pilum4004 Jan 2009 8:30 p.m. PST

pretty good.

Beautiful figs and terrain.

uruk hai04 Jan 2009 10:25 p.m. PST

Great figures and impressive terrain. But who won? Hard to tell from the photos (which were very good) no swarms of routing troops dashing back to Paris or Brussels.

See what I mean?

"But who won? "

Presumably the side with the least number of pretty white rings on their heads!!

IR1Lothringen05 Jan 2009 4:03 a.m. PST

Stunning Stuff, Love the Brunswickers!!

Azantihighlightning05 Jan 2009 8:09 a.m. PST

Love it – what was the outcome?

That scale argument is such nads!

bgbboogie05 Jan 2009 8:30 a.m. PST

Not my scale but it looks fantastic……

GeorgethePug06 Jan 2009 11:48 a.m. PST

Are these 28mm or 15mm ? Great everything

GeorgethePug06 Jan 2009 12:28 p.m. PST

It's a game, so the white rings don't bother me one bit.

Beautiful terrain and figures. It looks like every single possible figure was painted to the highest standards. This must have taken year to put together.

BTW, this game demonstrates why the UK is the centre of the wargaming world. Top notch game.

Everyone looks very serious though.

Craig Ambler10 Jan 2009 7:30 a.m. PST

Excellent game. I hope the game went well and you all had fun. I am painting my first 25mm Napoleonics figures for years for a skirmish (normally a 15mm man). This makes it look very easy.

Brilliant stuff

Craig

What a fantastic game. This is what Wargaming is all about!

Your wargame room looks like one i used to have before i scrapped it as being too claustrophobic, pokey and underequipped.

Woolshed Wargamer13 Feb 2009 2:14 p.m. PST

Every once in a while we need to see a big game like this to remind us why we love Napoleonics so much.

Well done lads.
