I believe I've found a list of the naval vessels currently participating in anti-piracy operations in the Gulf of Aden. It can be found at the following link: link Any idea what the operation is officially called? |

You're missing those three Chinese ships, as far as I can see. Or are they not there yet? As far as I can see, it's not an operation – everyone's pretty much doing their own thing |

IIRC Canda has a frigate guarding UN food shipments in the area. |

You're missing those three Chinese ships, as far as I can see. Here's the story about the Chinese naval force, dated December 26th: link So, the next question would be what scale should this be played in? |

Probably varies, depending upon whether you want to do the boats and ships, or the boarding actions. Therefore, I suggest two scales, e.g. one for each. 15mm for the boarding actions, since some ships can be quite large in this scale. Probably 1/300th – 1/700th for the vessels, or smaller, but the pirate boats will be very small in any scale below 1/700th. Lots of choice for the ships, if you choose 1/1250th, but the pirate boats will be about a quarter inch long in that scale. |

At least one French vessel, which appears to remain nameless, but they did catch a couple of pirate vessels: link |

15mm for the boarding actions, since some ships can be quite large in this scale. Excellent idea, Ace. Cannon Fodder Miniatures from Australia makes "African Clan Militia" from their 15mm "Modern Special Forces and Their Enemies" range: canfodmins.com/15MMAFRICAN.htm Anyone have these in their collection? If so, how are they? The French Navy vessel is the frigate Jean de Vienne. Her name is listed in the second paragraph. |
