I play 1:20 size units, with the old (GDW)"Fire and Steel" rule set; I talked to a gentelman in Canada who use's the same rule system. We both started in the early 1980's. I have about 7000 figures. How many figures do you have and do you use the same rule system? Pictures would be great if you have them. |

I've got about 1500 painted and about 2400 unpainted Napoleonics with about another 800 painted (300 unpainted) American Civil War. My Napoleonics are based for 1:60, Legacy of Glory is my preferred set of rules for Napies and Johnny Reb 2 for ACW. Web server is offline at the moment so no photos but I can post back when it comes back up. Cheers, The Bandit |

I have about 750 15mm painted Nappy figs, half britsh half french, Started a year ago based for 1:20 General de brigade |
| RobH | 03 Jan 2009 2:25 p.m. PST |
My Napoleonics number about 2000 painted and about 600 unpainted. Currently in the process of a complete rebasing and repair from Napoleons Battles to Republique. |

Le sigh. 4200 15mm of all nationalities (except Ottoman)(Napoleon's Battles) 800 6mm Austrian, Russian, and Prussian (Homebrew) 300 28mm French, British, and Spanish (Sharp Practice) Long gone are several thousand 20mm plastics based for Quarries Napoleonics. I'm in the unenviable position of having to raise all armies for all Napoleonic games that I want to play. I'm the only big Napoleonics fan in our gaming community. |

I have no where near enough painted. My aim is to do Waterloo at 1:1 which is the scale I play. Here are some images: link I spend most of my spare time running the website and painting other peoples figures.
This year however I am going to paint more of mine.

I have just completed a stock take and I have over 4,000 28mm (French, Russian and Prussians) – they are all painted and based. I play "In The Name of Glory" rules. I did have a large 15mm French army but about 7 years ago we (myself and a gamimng chum) decided to get into 28mm (he has British and some Prussians). I shudder to think how much money I have spent on these figures. |
Condotta | 03 Jan 2009 3:59 p.m. PST |
link How many? I have thousands, mostly in 28mm, some actually painted, and a few hundred 15mm, mostly painted ABs and Battle Honours. 28mms are Foundry, Front Rank, Elite, Essex, Old Glory, Perry, etc, etc
every nationality and campaign from 1806 on. Then, there is the terrain. Trees, buidings, boards, rules, dice
it never stops, does it? Rules
various, but have not tried Fire and Steel. Can insanity of this sort prove a person sane? |
| donlowry | 03 Jan 2009 4:05 p.m. PST |
I have never counted them. I'm doing Waterloo armies in 15mm with brigade stands, and have the French and British done, and maybe a fourth of the Prussians: link |
| badger22 | 03 Jan 2009 5:05 p.m. PST |
Several hundred 15mm for Naps Battles(which I dislike a lot) 4000 painted 2000 unpainted 1/72 plastics covering French Brits, Austrians and Prussians. Based and played mostly with guard du Corp. About 10 40mm for Sharp practice. 3 bags of Old Glory and some Perry 28mm plastic on the way getting ready for Genral de Brigade. I have Fire and stell, but never played it. But I have in years past played a lot of system 7, which is the same sytem, only for thier cardboard counters. Malcom, I have exactly the same problem, and live in WA state, so I am probably just a little to far south of you to solve our mtual problem. |

Just a few, look at my Displaced Miniatures galleries. Nearly all painted on the last 3 years. |
| nsolomon99 | 03 Jan 2009 5:46 p.m. PST |
A little over 10,000 x 15mm figures, mainly AB but some Essex, some Old Glory, some Lancashire Games and a smattering of Battle Honours & Roundway. Currently I'm playing and enjoying "La Feu Sacre" but am also looking at using "La Grande Armee" for a higher level "Brigade" based approach to larger battles. All the figures are based for "Empire" though I am considering an alternative magnetic basing with sabots to offer more granularity and flexibility. I'm testing alternative basing with my SYW figures (a couple of thousand OG 15's). Also of course the geomorphic scenery tiles, buildings, roads, bridges, etc for creating the battlefields – interested in the new terrain mat approach that seems to be gathering some momentum. |

I dont know how many I have but they probably match nsolomon99 in numbers. I had a count once many years ago but it didnt include generals, cavalry, artillary or ancillaries and was over 8000 then. Since then I have added a thousand strong ottomans , then some revolutionary Austrians and 3 spanish armies added. If memory serves me right, I have only ditched some old style minifigs in any number, but added loads of other figures. I actually do not know of any nation I do not own something of. it got to the stage that to find something to use the extra figures for, I did sicilians. |

I had Fire & Steel for many years but never played it. I kept it mostly for the info on units and nationalities. Sold them a while back. |

We have about 7,000 painted 25mm figures and play Column, Line & Square, which is also 1:20. Some pictures can be found on the CLS Yahoo group, though we have been remiss about uploading to the page: link Rick |

I had at least 5,000 25/28mm Napoleonics until this year, when I sold the whole collection off to a single buyer (woo, hoo!!!) in my efforts to pare down my miniatures collection to just a couple of periods: SYW and Late Romans. However, I was simultaneously building 1:10 ratio 1805/06 armies for France and Prussia plus a smattering of Russians. This is a long term project to which I add a few units each year. It is good to see Napoleonics on the upswing again, and even better to hear that there are more 25/28mm gamers out there than I had imagined. |

28mm Napoleonics 13,000+ painted, 3,000 unpainted, 2,000 1806 Prussians and 2,000 Spainsh to buy. Based for 1/20 ratio. On a 16'x7' purpose built custom wargame table/cabinet. 30% Old glory 20% Elite 30% foundry 5% Perry 5% Sash&saber 10% others. Just bought 20 limbers from Hind and 40 rifle men from Alban. I Hope to have this all done in the next 5 years. If this sight took pics I would put them up. I will have over 1,500 painted this year, by my painter. |

This is interesting. I'm Impressed that it's always large numbers in collections. For my part – I'm superstitous about counting my stuff. Oh well. Thanks for sharing though! |
| christot | 04 Jan 2009 4:20 a.m. PST |
Don't know how many 25mm
probably about 3,000 + Prussians and French and allies, they live in a friends wargames shed where he has slightly larger quantites of Russians and French + allies. There are some Austrians knocking about too- so maybe 8,000 + all told. All for "In the Grand Manner" a few pics here itinerantwargamer.blogspot.com |
| Bombardier | 04 Jan 2009 6:13 a.m. PST |
Just over 4,000 painted 28mm all based for In The Grand Manner, which I've been amassing for the past 2 years. This year I'm planning to add another 9 regiments of heavy cavalry, a similar number of lights and always more infantry. garagegamer.blogspot.com |

Not many. About 550 18mm painted. Based for LFS at modified figure ratio. Yet to have enough so I use card board counters to play. |
| Kevin in Albuquerque | 04 Jan 2009 9:15 a.m. PST |
About 2000 French, about 1000 Austrians, about 800 Confed Rhine troops, all in 15mm. Based for Empire but with a lot of 1x2's so I can play many systems. About 1000 unpainted, but 250 of that is off being painted at this time. With my artheritis in my fingers, I find I can only do scruffy ancients, like barbarians to my satisfaction. The pros paint better than I do anyhow. Oh, and a ton of ancients also in 15mm that I never have counted up but take up half a closet. Eight different armies. |
| COL Scott home | 04 Jan 2009 4:20 p.m. PST |
I am pitiful. Only 6-700, with the same amount needing to be painted or repainted. Little likley hood of getting much done in the next two years while I am in command. Perhaps a few here and there. |

Clay, I have spent almost 40 years collecting and gameing. So my biggest chunk, the 4000 1/72 is only 100 figures a year. I can and have done 100 figs in a week. If I was more focused on Napoleonics, and had more money, I could have 40000 figs. But i have other periods and interests. So some of the collections here are from folks that are more focused than me. Good for them. |

I have around 500 28mm, mostly Austrians but I am now working on the french. You can see them here : link |

It is so good to see so many diverse sizes and interests in the same subject; Napoleonics. I see that "Florida Tory","Christot", and "Bombardier" all play 1:20 also. I have never played "In the Grand Manner" or CLS rules but I am glad they bring you joy. I am glad that "Badger22" and "Donlowry" have used "Fire and Steel" at one time. Its too bad that you sold your 15mm stuff on Kirkee Day "Bombardier", it was a fine looking army. Keep those pictures and amry counts coming you all and thanks. |
