Hi, Essex's online 15mm catalogue is not very well-illustrated. Does anybody know whether and which 15mm Essex Mycenean packs include figures wearing Dendra-style armour of overlapping bronze bands? |

The BS49 chariot definitely includes one fighter in Dendra panoply. Not sure about the command chariot. I also thought there was an all-Dendra infantry code, because I was sure that when I ordered my Meceneans many moons ago I accidentally over-ordered them (like you, I had to guess at the figures from the brief catalogue descriptions, and no website back then) but now I can't see which code that could have been. I thought it might be BS53 Heavy Spearmen, but from the photo at Essex's website it appears that it's not. Maybe worth a call to Essex? They definitely do Dendra troops for the chariot, so hopefully they can also provide them on foot. |

You don't want Dendra armor for foot troops, if you want them to be realistic. Such armor is fine for chariot jousting, but too heavy and clumsy to use in a foot melee, epecially in Greek or Anatolian summer heat. |

I thought he might want them for dismounted heroes. As I recall, that was an option in the DBM list, which is why I wanted a couple of stands' worth at the time. |

Thanks, all. Actually, I *do* want them to be on foot, mainly because I would like to convert some into warriors from the Dian kingdom of what is now Yunnan Province in China. There is a bronze belt buckle from Shizhaishan that depicts Dian warriors in very similar armour to the Dendra panoply. Of course, it would also be nice to have a few for use as Bd for DBA's "I/26 Later Mycenaean & Trojan War" army, assuming that the Dendra armour dates from that period. |

Okay, I've been digging through my old Myceneans and couldn't find a bunch of Dendra on foot, then it came back to me – I wanted to order some of them, but when the order came it was just the BS53 Heavy Spearmen shown at Essex's site. So I'm afraid my memory was faulty, and there isn't a catalogue code for Dendra on foot. However, if you get in touch with the folks at Essex they might still be able to sort something out for you from their charioteers. |

The Chariot (manufacturer) figures from the Trojan War Chariot (troop type) packs have full Dendra Armour. Fantastic figures. |
