Here are my Baccus 6mm Confederates to date: picture They are intended for Polemos Regimental-level rules ("On They Came") so they are based 60 x 30mm, and 30 x 30mm. The bases are finished with Brushscape "Dark Sand," with some larger talus mixed in at the end, drybrush highlighted with Vallejo "Pale Sand." It's not a terribly muddy Eastern theatre look, so I plan to do the union differently. I found paper flags difficult to handle, and I will have to work on my technique. For now, let's say I intended the flags to look very weather beaten. I enjoy painting all scales, but I do want to say that 6mm was an unexpected pleasure. |

Very nice – the more I see of this scale, the more I am tempted. By the way, the white balance of your digital shot is way off, leaving a strong yellow cast – either use flash or set your white balance manually to a more appropriate setting for indoors incandescent lighting.

Very nice, did you use a quick shade dip on them? If you like 6mm I am slowly building up a gallery or 6mm images to inspire people:

angelbarracks: yes, this was my first experiment with "the dip." (I usually do a future and paint mix.) I brushed on Minwax Polyshades "Antique Walnut Satin (340)." I shook the can each time, so it went on full strength. It was a little terrifying at first to watch the paintjob being smothered, but the Minwax drained and dried as hoped. (I brushed on a final coat of matt varnish to seal and ease the gloss.) normsmith: you are quite right about the white balance. |

Normsmith, I do believe I've even seen these in person :) & you are correct, the lighting situation does not do them justice. They are even more impressive in person. Cotedelachevre: As to paper flags what I've taken to lately is mounting them first onto the reinforced foil tops of individual fruit yoghurts. I then trim the foil to shape with two little tags to glue around the flag pole. While they are still wet from the flue I can bend & shape them & they will stay in position & remain strong. I think the dip looks really good. I was worried about it clogging up on 6mm but it looks good, maybe I will try it. |

Those Confederates look great! I havent been interested in ACW in 6mm as I'm doing them with Perry 28s. But I do like how well sculpted Baccus are! Otto noizehive.blogspot.com |
