Now I've played a fair bit of DBA in both 15mm and 25/28mm, and for years (over a decade!) I owned a number of 15mm Hordes of the Things armies
but it occurred to me recently that I don't think I ever actually PLAYED with them!? So last night's game was (likely) my first ever game of Hordes of the Things!? Certainly it was the first game with the "new" rules
. A full report with loads of pictures can be found on my blog: link |

Now I'll have to sit down and read the rules again and figure out all the stuff I had wrong and where I was totally cheating and making stuff up
The only thing that springs to mind from the report is that supporting spears die if the front element dies. Otherwise, looks both pretty and fun (which is the aim of the game!) and yes, dragons and magicians are both powerful and fickle. |

Thanks Streetline, If you're referring to the spear that shoved the behemoth off the table after the other spear was killed (in the first game) it wasn't giving rear support to the fist spear. It was off to the side. I tried to maneuver it to give an overlap instead as in a rear support position it could have been pushed back into the flank of the main line- which would have destroyed it. Sorry, the report was written up rather hastily and that wasn't really clear

Well this sounds like a fun game, with good results. Might have to check it out, especially after seeing that Garden Rock army, that was too cool. |

Cool looking game. I've played a fair bit of HOTT. I prefer it at 48AP's or more. The army design system is dirt simple yet great. I have to admit that I wished the game wasn't as focused on the exact positioning of a particular stand. Doesn't make real sense for an army level game to worry about a single stand. But it inherits that from DBA. The armys I see in HOTT tourneys are simply incredible looking. That alone is enough to keep my interest in the game. Thanks, John |
