Peter Pig packs at Brookhurst are listed at $5.35 USD per. At Peter Pig, they're £2.30, which is $3.38 USD at current rates (and if I want to pick poses, it's $3.82). Even with the 25% shipping charge from the UK, that makes every pack $4.23 USD (or $4.78). When I place my order, I'd really rather go through Peter Pig directly. (ed. for clarity: this isn't a 'Brookhurst, you suck!' post. The fall of the GBP vs. the USD does, ah, interesting things to the 'US vendor of UK products' situation.) |

Can you order Peter Pig direct or is it still only available for US customers thru Brookhurst? That's how I remember it when I collected 15mm years back. |

The way the exchange rate is fluctuating these days, makes it virtually impossible for a store that actually stocks an item to be able to always match a price. Also, the price is based on what Brookhurst paid at the time they ordered it. Last week it was cheaper for a German friend to order AB figures from the US on Monday but cheaper to order from the UK the following Wednesday. Wyatt |

A) Brookhurst has always done a good job for me. And if something isn't in stock, or it's a special order, Larry has often arranged for Martin to ship the items straight to me from the UK. B) With the recent currency shift, it was economically preferable to place the last order direct, and since I was asking for some special pack compositions and very new items, I didn't feel like I was jilting Larry by doing so. Next order will probably be from Brookhurst, just to maintain loyalty for past service. Who knows what the dollar and pound will have done by then. Allen |

Caliver Books (UK) sell PP and offer free postage worldwide. link |

Perhaps because of this, Brookhurst was running a discount on their PP minis. Unfortunately, mine have been backordered for over a month now, so I'm guessing that won't really work out. |
| Rod Langway | 29 Dec 2008 9:51 a.m. PST |
Unlike many here, have had constant headaches going through Brookhurst for Peter Pig over the years, mainly extremely long backorder times (sometimes 3-6 months), with very little follow-up. If US customers are able to go direct to Martin at PP, then I would definitely start buying PP again
. |
| Dan Cyr | 29 Dec 2008 10:55 a.m. PST |
The only time I've ever bought PP from Brookhurst was when I could actually stop by their store and see what they had in stock. Tried to buy PP by mail form Brookhurst several times and nearly everything I ever wanted was back stocked for months. Result is that I've got pactically nothing of PP. Dan |

Over the years, I ordered different items from Brookhurst, and had GREAT service, except when I ordered PP products. I never received a complete PP order from Brookhurst or any sort of follow from them after I received my partial order. So after three or four orders with Brookhurst, and not getting a complete PP order. I just gave up and starting ordering 15mm from other manufactures. Some years ago I contact the PP team and asked them if I could order direct from them and they told me that Brookhurst was they U.S. distributor and I had to order from them. It's too bad I real like the PP line, but I just can't find a reliable source in the U.S. |

I have done both but prefer to buy from Brookhurst in person at Historicon. PP is always on my wish list at Hcon. I do try and keep an eye out for sales from Larry. VR James Mattes |

You guys with bad experiences must be talking to somebody other than Larry Huber at B'hurst. He has always been very diligent in following up when temporarily out of something. I don't *think* I've been getting special treatment. But then some poeple report good service from places I've had issues with. Allen |
| darthfozzywig | 30 Dec 2008 6:17 p.m. PST |
And speaking of
This thread starts on Sunday. Brookhurst ships on Monday. I receive my minis on Tuesday. Yay! ;) |
| Top Gun Ace | 30 Dec 2008 7:49 p.m. PST |
Larry's great, but they tend to order from the suppliers in the UK only once in a while, which causes the backlogs on orders. Same issue with Tumbling Dice minis. |
| Dan Cyr | 30 Dec 2008 9:26 p.m. PST |
The issue is that Brookhurst has to order and get large amounts at once for the shipping costs to send over heavy masses of PP (or it would not be worth it to them). If your order does not match what they have in stock, then you're stuck until they place their next order. Depending on what they've got in stock and how fast they are selling it at any particular time, it can be quite a wait. Its a business and I don't expect them to lose money special ordering individual packs in between cycles. Just makes it impossible for those of us who would rather order direct from PP and get the best deal possible without having to wait. Also, paying Brookhurst for being a middleman seems silly in this day and age. Made sense years ago, not now. Dan |
| Utini420 | 31 Dec 2008 8:37 a.m. PST |
I wasn't gonna comment, but Dan, I think you bracketed my target so darn nicely
"If your order does not match what they have in stock, then you're stuck until they place their next order" "paying Brookhurst for being a middleman seems silly in this day and age" And some where right between those two is why I stopped bothering with Brookhurst.

As I mentioned, Larry has asked Peter Pig to send me out-of-stock items directly. Maybe it's because I'm such a cranky . In any case, it's a case of not getting toys. That's not nearly as frustrating as having your toys arrive busted or missing bits, and trying to get replacements out of Battlefront! Allen |
| Rod Langway | 31 Dec 2008 9:08 p.m. PST |
Allen, Getting a bit of ambiguity regarding ordering from Peter Pig direct, do they allow US customers to do this? Truth be told, I have regularly had sub-standard service from Brookhurst where PP was concerned, because of this, I have diverted hundreds of dollars from desired PP orders to other manufacturers. If I was able to order direct, I would happily be buying PP in droves again. Have to agree with others in this thread, I just don't see the necessity of paying a middleman in this day and age

Hey guys, don't moan at BH but moan at the manufacturers, most of which are small independent one-man bands that don't exactly fill orders all that quickly. Moreover, if wasn't for hobby shops like BH we wouldn't have much of a hobby. This would also have a direct impact on manufacturers, who instead of designing new figs and such would be spending their time filling small little orders. So think about what you are saying
and realize you may pay a bit more or a bit less (depending on the FX rate and the discount rate given to retailers like BH) and help keep alive the few good hobby stores we have left. Otherwise, you will not have a hobby store left to go to
.Just my thoughts. |

Does Brookhurst still stock Peter Pig they informed my local hobby store they do not distribute it anymore? |

I've received great service over the years at Brookhurst. However, i order PP directly for two reasons: 1. I can choose poses and know the items are in stock. 2. I don't have to pay California sales tax. |
| Steve Toth | 15 Apr 2009 3:48 p.m. PST |
Charles BTB Yes, we are still importing the Peter Pig Range of figures. In fact I placed 3 restock orders in the last 2 weeks. If there is anything you are looking for or have questions, comments, please contact me direct here at Brookhurst Hobbies. Really a crazy question. Should you support an American or local company or not? I feel that you should. i have known larry for decades. I have never had any problem with him or his company. We all survive with a volume of sales, so Please support him. |

I ordered some pp from Brook and he told me upfront what was not in store, and I made my order around it, he also told me when it would be in. I never ever seen a store yet that did not have a mishap once in a while. |

This is my take on the subject, If by ordering from a local (meaning in the states) company I can save a few weeks in shipping time then yes its worth a couple more bucks. but if I still have to wait for it to be shipped over the pond then to me it would be better to save a buck and get my stuff faster. Oh and I'm still waiting for info on why an order I placed last week is still being processed. |

I order from Peter Pig directly to me here on the East Coast, US. 1. I'm pretty sure the mfg can cast up whatever I ask for if they don't already have it in stock. At least that's what I've been told. So I don't have to worry about the US retailer having to restock. <-This is not a slam on Brookhurst, they do a good job for what they have but I don't feel the desire to call them to check what's in stock before ordering. 2. I can order on a Sunday and have my stuff as early as that same week usually Friday or Saturday. I do order with the understanding that they will post the package within 2 WEEKS. Althought whenever I've requested a faster posting, PP has not failed me. They always remind me that standard posting is 2 weeks though. Not sure how they're handling the postal strike. I'll pay more for a quick turnaround too. So if I'm in a rush (1-3 week turnaround) I'll order from Peter Pig. If Brookhurst carried the entire line in depth (well, for me WWII DAK, 8th Army, head sprues, etc) I would order from them. I'm sure it's hard for a retailer to stock an entire imported product line though! |

If ordering from Peter Pig direct online will you be charged a fee to convert the dollar to pound on your card. thanks |
| DuckanCover | 28 Oct 2009 9:11 p.m. PST |
Always ordered Peter Pig miniatures direct from Martin. No real incentive to do otherwise from Australia, given what's already been touched upon in this thread. Communications and shipping always good. Very, very rare to have any problems, but always quickly addressed. Average times to me here are between six and nine days, depending on Postal circumstances. I've never seen evidence of anyone actually holding stock here but, even if they did, they'd have to be able to fill the whole order, in one hit. Otherwise, it's much simpler to just order them myself. Obviously, I've been spoiled by their quality of service. In fact, I'm waiting on another order right now
