What a great idea – there should be more group build plans like this. |

I might be a little thick, but what is a group build plan? Is this a sculpting project? A painting project? |
| Cardinal Hawkwood | 22 Dec 2008 10:48 p.m. PST |
did you have a look?it is a sculpting thing for those interested to express interest and.. this is the parent link which might further explain it link |

You could also buy Hanoverians from Front Rank or Venture Miniatures and save yourselves a lot of trouble. |
| shelldrake | 23 Dec 2008 1:59 p.m. PST |
Ah, but you could order these and save a lot of money thanks to the exchange rate on the $AUD |
Der Alte Fritz | 23 Dec 2008 6:38 p.m. PST |
I didn't mean to rain on your parade, Your Eminence. I think that this is a great idea, and based on how you have presented it, the range would be one of the most comprehensive Hanoverian SYW ranges ever. I look forward to seeing how this progresses. Your most humble servant, DAF |
| Cardinal Hawkwood | 23 Dec 2008 11:26 p.m. PST |
Front rank have more than a few problems, sahes over the wrong shoulder amongst other things and buying anything from the US is expensive for us..at the moment with 3 biggish orders Battlescape is happy to proceed and to do them at a most competitive price.. |
| Cardinal Hawkwood | 24 Dec 2008 4:14 a.m. PST |
I had a look at Venture..not a complete range so it seems and they seemed a bit odd looking to my eye..I wouldn't buy them after viewing their pics.. |

and DAF, don't worry about the rain, I have a big umbrella |

I am confused. Who would do the sculpting and production, Eureka? I'd be interested but who would I pay if the project got of the ground (or maybe it already has?). |
| shelldrake | 24 Dec 2008 3:55 p.m. PST |
Battlescape in Australia: link Somewhere in the posts (link provided above by the Cardinal, within the group build section) it is mentioned who does the sculpting
just cant remember the names off hand |
| Supercilius Maximus | 25 Dec 2008 4:18 a.m. PST |
Sounds like the wargaming equivalent of an Amish barn-raising. I believe a Reading-based group did something similar a decade or so back, ordering a big production run of some converted Saratoga British infantry for Front Rank's AWI range (don't think they ever got released to the public though). Excellent idea, if the figures turn out all right. |

Please record this endevour in a collective blog so we can read about it as it progresses. |
| Cardinal Hawkwood | 26 Dec 2008 12:55 a.m. PST |
a collective blog.? we have enough time tied up with the forum site which is quite collective enough
.and that is where orders are being recorded and discussions are being undertaken and this project has nothing at all to do with Eureka..and ths culptor is
who is it Matt? |

Hello All. I have posted some further details on this project up including sculptor, sample work and general information. If you have any interest, please logon to the forum and voice it! :) |
| Cardinal Hawkwood | 29 Dec 2008 1:19 p.m. PST |
while the disussion at the above link has been robust, and a little too stream -of-conciousness at times, details have been formalised and a link to ordering has been established, now it is just the thrashing around about pose and form, so to speak.. |

Hello All We have been getting a great response to this Group Build. I know there has been some issues with French and German I.P. addresses viewing the details on the BattleScape website. I am looking into this now. Rest assured that this project is moving along well and work has begun on putting together all the relevant details to get this into motion. regards Mathew |

Hello All An update with this project. The sculptor has been booked in for June/July to begin this project. In the coming days i will be putting the figure range up onto WarTimeMiniatures.com.au which now handles all the figure projects. This will include pricing. Given that it has been a few months and as a final gateway i would ask that all those who committed to get this project underway, then reorder via WarTime as a confirmation of their intentions. let me know if you have any questions. regards Mathew |

Following some uncertainty in the link above about the putative figures' size and style, I'd prefer to see a sample, or pictures at least, before committing to buy larger numbers. They would obviously need to match existing French and Prussian/Hessian ranges, so in your ideas will they fit in with Front Rank, Foundry, Crusader or Minden? |
| Musketier | 20 May 2009 12:28 p.m. PST |
PS Maybe I've overlooked it but is there a grenadier officer in the range? As a difference to most other nations, Hanoverian grenadier officers did wear the cap instead of the tricorn. They also wore their sash around the waist, under the coat, as they had an elaborate baldric and pouch to go with their fusil. Also I see that coat lace was an issue earlier in the discussion. Apparently the lace edging on cuffs and lapels was removed early in the Seven Years War buttonhole lace stayed on. This is the version shown in the Niemeyer/Ortenburg book. Are the Schaumburg-Lippe Carabiniers still on? This could be the first time imagi-nation sales help produce a historical figure! |

musketeir..do you have a picture of the Grenadier officer in cap and waist sash, with a date? or a link? I intend to do a research design for the Caribiner. I have come across a reference to officers with a red epaulette, I presume this to be a fringe..any ideas on the musican, a very mysterious subject and standards. I imagine being in theory light horse they didn't carry colours but from a marketing point to imagi-nations people a full command set would be a plus also a figure of the Graf.. Whatever my final involvement I am firmly in the compatibility to Minden camp.. indeed my idea, hubris as it may be, is to surpass the Mindens. On these matter s I always follow the attitude of the Australian Cricket team and back myself completely. |

The intention is for the miniatures to be similar to Minden is size and proportions. We also intend to produce the range as per the current Group Build list. I am looking for two different face to be done for the Musketeers and Grenadiers to give some semblance of variance. :) The intention is for these miniatures to be definitive in accuracy and quality. I am confident we can achieve this and will even ensure the greens get public display so they may be changed or confirmed as required (hopefully just confirmed) :). regards Mathew |

Your Eminence and Mathew, - Graf Schaumburg-Lippe you already have an illustration of, he's no. 78 in Mollo's book (as reproduced on the Miniature Wargaming forum on 22 Oct 2007) he's wearing a general officer's uniform, nothing like his carabiniers' dress! - Will try and e-mail scans of the grenadier officers at Bemerode - The Carabiniers were all of 75 strong as you know. Odds are therfore they had neither standard nor trumpeter, or we would have heard about them. I realise that imagi-nations might want them, so my conjecture would be to look at their cuirassier counterparts: standard bearer NCO in cuirass and helmet with baldric clipped to standard shaft; trumpeter in tricorn, no cuirass, kollett with false sleeves at the back. - The carabinier officer is depicted with silver-fringed red epaulettes in the Sturm series of cigarette cards; again, not sure how much of that is conjecture. - As a final point, note that Knφtel specifies the arm protections were abandonned in 1758, so you need to decide which version to go for. Perhaps leave them on the standard bearer? |

Thanks for the info Musketier. I am actually looking for a couple of people to help with the research and references for this project. As i said previously ensuring we get this right is of the highest importance. If you would like to help please feel free to email me directly: Mathew@BattleScape.com.au regards Mathew |

Work for this project is to begin shortly. The sculptor has the details for the first batch of figures which will be the infantry. Due to the size of the project i have decided to break it down into more "manageable chunks". Horse regiments will be next. Once i have a workable green to show, i will get it out for you to see! Here is the basic list for the first lot of figures: H01 – Musketeer marching H01A – Guard Musketeer marching H02 – Sergeant marching, halberd H02A – RSM marching, cane H03 – Officer marching, spontoon H03A – Officer marching, sword drawn (shouldered) H04 Drummer marching H05 Hautbois marching (Oboe) H05A Hautbois marching(Bassoon) H06 – Standard bearer marching (finial + cords) H07 – Infantry casualties (2) H08 – Mounted Colonel H10 – Grenadier marching H10A Guards Grenadier at attention H12 – Grenadier sergeant, marching with fusil H13 – Grenadier officer, marching with fusil H14 – Grenadier command set (drummer, fifer, sapper) |

As a guide to the quality you can expect see the Australian Light Horse i have had done previously: link The pre order system is the only measure i have for the ranges viability and that is what will see the project come to fruition or otherwise. |

Mathew, Great sculpts, if your Hanoverians are as good then with Minden we will be spoilt for choice. Variety is the spice etc. Good luck with the project |

Hello All. Well here is a link to a couple of very early pictures of the Hanoverians. Blank master dollies only, but enough to give you a good impression of the quality. I would not normally do this, but given the sudden influx of 28mm Hanoverians onto the market ( :) ) i thought i better show what else is coming in the next couple of months. :) link regards Mathew |
